Think the Hartlepool fans can rest easy about losing there player, Jones just done his weekly press stuff and there’s no signings imminent according to him.

What a disaster his recruitment has been - even in that press conference he is still banging on about wanting championship experience when it is blindingly obvious we cannot afford what that costs. He’s not got a clue what he’s doing when it comes to bringing players in.

SITREP - we need to get rid of players... Jones admits that, but hasn’t got rid of any apart from a few loanees. We still have 4 keepers on the books.

We need to get players in... Jones admits that. “Close” for the last 3 weeks... nothing has happened.

Being linked with Reece Oxford on loan and Jonson Clarke Harris now. Kind of doubt the latter has any validity given you’d assume he is sort of after. Oxford is a maybe if he’s not settled in Germany I guess.

Just good to see us linked with players at the moment!

Peter Kioso to Luton is happening, gutted.

This lad can go as far as he wants, you’ve got an absolute star in the making here.

Matty Cash to AC Milan is a good contender for the strangest transfer of the season award.
Thought that was a really strange signing, then - showing signs of senility here - realised the young right winger Cash we had on loan from Forest a while back was called Brian, and it was 15 years ago! (He had a good game against Wolves in the league cup, but didn't do too much more, and returned to Nottingham at the end of his loan month.)

Andre Gray has been linked to a few clubs here.

Not been great for but scored some important goals.

Just don't use him as a lone striker as he cannot control or pass the ball well.

Been a very quiet window hasn’t it?

Augustin to Leeds is the one that looks to be really exciting.

Swansea made a couple of good loans too

Beyond that... nothing

I’m just hoping we hold on to everyone (no noise so far - though when we sell it’s usually late in the window). If we can add another striker that would be great but happy with what we’ve got.

You guys keeping that squad together is key. Should be fine.

Thoughts on Tuesday? Heard Benrahama might be out...

Yeah his dad died, might be back but unknown. We’re also likely without Jansson and Jensen which are big blows.

Agent Andre.
He has never been good as a lone striker.

His main ability is pace - has done well with Deeney before but just lacks confidence in his own.

Because everyone is trying to destroy each other. The January window has to be one of the worst modern football inventions. No one has any money and what is being quoted by other teams leads to either not spend or spend too much.

Scott Sinclair is the signing of the window.

I see Josh Dacre-Cogly has been registered to play for Birmingham after his loan at Crawley finished.

Not sure if he is ready for championship football but he is a decent full back and a decent lad. Maybe a season or two he'll be a starter.

Our young CB Festus Arthur has joined Hull for a reported fee of £40,000 + Add ons.

Looks about 30 despite being 19. A big strong confident centre half who can use both feet very effectively.

Couple of years loaned out to Lg2 / Lg1 and he'll be up to scratch in the Championship i reckon.

Good luck Festus!

Two signings for Norwich in recent days, as well as two players leaving.

In continuing with our tradition of signing European players no one's ever heard of, defensive midfielder Jacob "Lungi" Sorensen signs from Danish club Esbjerg, while pacy winger Przemysław Płacheta (your guess on how that's pronounced is as good as mine) signs from Polish club Slask Wroclaw for a reported £2.7 million

Going the other way, Sean Raggett has been released and young goalkeeper Archie Mair has been loaned to National League King's Lynn Town

For what it’s worth I follow a fair few of those football analytics type twitter accounts and they seem to rate both of those unknown lads. They do tend to over rate some of there stats (lies damn lies and all that) at times I feel but they generally are a good gauge of those sorts of player

What I do like is that, on paper, both of these signings help cover big weaknesses that have been exposed in the squad this season (only one player with any pace and no effective defensive midfield shield to help the defence), but I'm somewhat wary after our bad signings this season and because of the fact that these players may need time to bed in and adapt to English football (always the risk when signing players from foreign leagues).

Meanwhile, rumours continue about our interest in Romanian winger Dennis Man. The Steaua Bucharest chairman has publically said that we've bid £8 million for him, but local media sources close to the club don't think this is accurate. Regardless of whether that bid has happened or not (I'd be hugely surprised if it has, truth be told), it is clear that we want to sign him as Webber has flown to Romania for talks recently.

So much for the budget cap then!

I thought the parachute payments were designed to stop the cliff edge of wages? Not pay transfer fees for unknowns?

So we're still here...! What I believe will happen in the coming days and weeks.

This list for me has changed a lot over the past month and there are some real harsh decisions. The likes of Tunnicliffe and McManaman have barely featured under Jones and I think we need to turn over these players to allow us to sign better. The likes of Berry and Bree wouldn't have come back if football hadn't restarted. I have a real headache over Elliot Lee; I think he will probably end up staying.

Cameron Carter-Vickers would be a tremendous signing if we could get him back next year. Izzy Brown too I would happily get back.

Under Contract
Martin Crainie, Dan Potts, Sonny Bradley, Matty Pearson, Andrew Shinnie, Simon Sluga, Harry Cornick, Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu, James Collins, George Moncur, Peter Kioso, Eunan O'Kane, James Shea

Transfer Listed
Ryan Tunnicliffe, Brendan Galloway

Offer New Contract
Luke Berry - 1 year extension, Elliot Lee - 1 year extension, Glen Rea - 3 year extension, Kazenga LuaLua - 2 year extension

Development Players
Corey Panter, Josh Neufville, Sam Beckwith, Jake Peck, Tiernan Parker

Released
Marek Stech, Callum McManaman, Danny Hylton, Jake Jervis, Jacob Butterfield - if he was on a 1-year deal?, Donervon Daniels, Lloyd Jones, Frankie Musonda, Harry Isted

End of Loan
Cameron Carter-Vickers - attempt to resign, Luke Bolton - do not resign, Izzy Brown - attempt to resign, James Bree - attempt to resign

In our case at least, our wage budget is puny by Premier League standards and all are being slashed 50% upon relegation anyway. I do agree that we've basically gamed the system this season, getting relegated and using the parachute payments and other Prem moneys to spend more on transfers, but I think we're operating more based on the belief that Aarons, Cantwell, Godfrey and maybe Buendia and Lewis will be sold for big money (don't suppose your lot would be due any cut of Aarons and/or Lewis' transfer fees, would they?).

In any case, though we want this Dennis Man bloke, sources close to the club have confirmed that we've not bid £8 million for him as of yet (though, compared to what some Championship clubs are starting to spend these days, that doesn't even seem like all that much).
