I'd prefer it to close before the season starts, it disrupts the opening fixtures far too much. The amount of players refusing to play to force moves is getting sad.

Agreed, the window should shut at midnight before the first game of the season.

Why do you both think that?

I think you always need to give it a couple of weeks so managers can assess their squads and make alterations before it's too late.

Same reasoning as Armchair, and also that some other leagues start later; and finally it is damn good fun all the speculation. That Neymar one the other day was a real beauty. :D

Yes, that should only apply to Liverpool's opposition.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
keep it open all the time.

ANYTHING which removes that utter bullsh*t, clap-trap OTT b*llocks that Sky news shove on during deadline day would be a good move.

I'd be all for this if it didn't further dent the odds of "smaller" clubs winning titles or nicking CL spots, i.e. Atletico or Dortmund being raided in March before the run-in to a domestic title or CL final.

This wouldn't have something to do with the thin werewolfesque Mr de gea would it?

No, it's because it's unfair on the fans that pay their tickets after letting the return of football hype up, only for some disrespectful twat sell them out and undermine their team.

Besides, United haven't conceded a goal yet.

What about just keep the transfer window open until March like in the olden days (as they say). Thoughts?

Don't have a window, just let teams buy and sell as they wish. I've never really understood the need for 'windows' and deadline day is one of the worst things about modern football.

And what exactly would you expect Jim White to do with his life in this windowless universe?

It shouldn't. There should be no transfer window. No more panic-buying, no more Jim White.

Perfect.

What I don't understand, is how the window shuts on slightly different dates in different countries, public holiday depending. Surely the window needs to shut on the same day for all clubs in Europe. It seems obvious that English club officials are working and negotiating right through the bank holiday using it as an extra day.

Think the window should start before the season begins, can really damage a side when one of the bigger clubs come in and steal away one of smaller teams key players, so that they can`t find a replacement or alter the strategy.
