So far (and rather surprisingly), Hattersley has more of a chance of being our top scorer than the three on that list. He's been performing with renewed vigour in pre-season and has scored an, er, hatful. Highly doubt any of ours will be top scorers anyway. Our best odds on that list is Dan Maguire, who's most likely not even going to play for us now he's realised, shortly after signing a two-year contract, how far it is to commute to Halifax from Northumberland.

And ive just gone out and thrown £20 down the drain, guessing we'll get the same result.

And why do you think that? The man is allowed an opinion and you've replied with a sarcastic comment. Bit pointless?

Well, not really.

I think we'll win the league, just an opinion based on last seasons finish, our signings and keeping our squad together. So if I think we're going to win the league, I believe I'm right in saying almost every season the Champions of this league own the top scorer. Simply choose the player you think is going to be your top scorer, Amond has a decent record in the league and is a good age. The last player we had of his background was Connell, outscored that season by only Matt Tubbs.

Put all that together, your poor odds of 11/4 for us to win the league potentially turn into 125/1 if history repeats itself. All you have to do is pick out of 3/4 realistic possibilities of who's going to be our top scorer.

If I win, I'll reimburse your £20 for good will.

Which bookie gave you 125/1 about that happening? Looks a decent bet based on Amond and Grimsby's form over past few weeks. Sky Bet?

I work at Ladbrokes and we've had a lot of people coming in requesting a Grimsby / Amond double recently. We only offer 66/1 in shop which I feel is quite weak, especially when I don't think Amond will be top scorer at the club never mind the league. I'm backing Bogle to do slightly better but I think it'll be close. If both get more than 15 then it's been good business either way although both are certainly capable of 20+.

We also had a requested special of Grimsby to go unbeaten at 100/1  :£

William Hill gave me that, I had to ring up for it. Strangely if I placed the double at the 11/4 and 25/1 that it is online, I'd get less than 125/1 for it. Don't know how that works but considering its 66/1 in ladbrokes I think I've got a good price for that.

It's a great price. Looks like Hills have shortened now.

Last time I checked Town were 5/1 with
William Hills to win the league, so that would add up right.
Never seen us anywhere as short as 11/4. :dk:
Edit just checked now 9/2 at Hills.

A bit of movement in BET365's odds. Both Amond (in from 25's) and Bogle (out from 12's) are now 16/1.

Sporting life are tipping richard brodie at 50/1.

Based on pre season im sticking with margetts at 33/1.

Bet 365 are reporting a bit of cash on padraig amond and damien reeve at 20s and 33s respectively.

Theres some food for thought for us ew betters

My bad, I was looking at 'promotion' odds but my bet is still for us to win the league.

Laughable that sporting life have picked Brodie. You'd think they'd do some research on the fact the champions have had the top scorer for 5 years running now, about the same sort of time since Brodie last did anything.

I doubt it's down to the start he has made (1 goal in the first 2 games) but I see that Bet Victor now have Amond as the 8/1 favourite. Must just be down to the amount of money being wagered on him.

The rest of their top 4 are James Constable and Jon Parkin (both 10/1) then Omar Bogle (14/1)

It looks like only 3 bookies are taking bets on the top scorer in our division, the others are William Hill, who now go...Jon Parkin (6/1) Padraig Amond and James Constable (10/1) and Omar Bogle and Andy Cook (12/1) and BET365 whose latest odds are Jon Parkin (6/1) James Constable and Andy Cook (10/1) Omar Bogle (12/1) and Padraig Amond (14/1).

BET365 are offering 33/1 for Andy Cook in contrast to the other 2 but Barrow will need to get some support or service to him, going on Tuesday's performance if he's going to seriously trouble the top.

Skybet are unless they've taken that market down for whatever reason. They were earlier in the week

I was just going by the Oddschecker site and those were the only 3 showing odds Luke.

Brodie has now left Southport and is rumoured to be joining Aldershot or Dover!

Matt Rhead.
Currently sitting pretty second in the table.

Moses Emmanuel (Bromley) - 13
Matt Rhead (Lincoln) - 11
Jordan Burrow (Halifax) - 10
Andy Cook (Barrow) - 9
Kristian Dennis (Macclesfield) - 9
John Goddard (Woking) - 8
Aaron O'Connor (Forest Green) - 8
Stefan Payne (Dover) - 8

Some early season favourites are still in the mix, with Bogle, Mangan and Bowman, all on 7 and Amond and Constable on 6.

Bogle and Amond haven't started many games of late and they have been games we've scored a few goals in. It's a shame.

Hilarious watching him waddle around today, bossing it like he did.

Ball comes near him, wins it. Gets a chance, scores it. It's what you want!

You don't appreciate just how good Rhead is at what he's in the side to do until you see over a period of time.

By the end of games, the opposition just can't walk away without having a begrudging respect for him. At face value, everything about him tells you he shouldn't be a footballer, but he knows what he can and can't do and doesn't deviate from that. He's one, if not the, best in the Conference at his strengths and the goals aside, he creates for others, too. He's too strong and too powerful.

Rhead would have loved Newton.

If he could run he'd be playing much higher.
As Luke says he knows what he can do and what he can't.
I've never seen a player before him with the ability to win headers without jumping he just knows where the ball is going to go, amazing.

Rhead didn't get a sniff against us, so hard to tell how good he is. Of the strikers I've seen against Barrow this season, it's hard to think of a single one that's looked a cut above - Charlie Walker of Aldershot has been about the best.
Cook has surprised me this season, and he's basically carrying us. If he goes missing, we lose (usually heavily). Would rate him up there with the better forwards in this division from the games I've seen.

Amond has added 4 to his tally tonight and he's now 3rd top scorer.
