Feels like there are an abundance of potentials this season.

Parkin and Rendell are probably the two front runners, in that they were both down here scoring last season and are at decent sides. Plenty of old faces returning who have done well in previous seasons too; Mangan, Hearn, Walker, Cook and Rhead. Then we've got the players either stepping up from lower levels or dropping down having played little to none Conference Premier football before; Ricky Miller, Alex Wall, Bradley Goldberg, Omar Bogle, James Gray, etc. Not forgetting those others already plying their trade in the division; Reeves, Ross Hannah, Bowman, Jennings, Constable, Shaw, etc.

Who else? Have I missed any obvious ones?

Can't find any odds anywhere, but if Dover can keep him on the straight and narrow, I could see Ricky Miller being worth a punt.

James Gray looked decent in our first friendly, quick, mobile and an eye for goal. Scored a brace in his 45 mins game time.

Thanks Dark, some decent scorers there in the OP. I'd agree with Jennings too but only if he's played in his preferred role down the middle, this looks unlikely with the signing of Gray.

If he stays fit think Andy Mangan will be right up there. Rendell will be high again too i think.

Interested to hear Torquay fans opinions on Bowman? Was with us for a couple of season after his release by Carlisle, looked like he had enough about him to be good at this level. Pace, tallish, and has an eye for goal. Has he developed on that potential?

Should have had around 25 last season, he is one of the most frustrating strikers I've ever seen.

Hoping that Cox can get more out of him than Hargreaves did.

Tyrone Marsh could be interesting - hit a few for Welling last season.

Hearn has to stay fit - if he does then surely a lock for at least 20.

Probably Mangan if he repeats the form of last season when he was a level higher. Bogle will either be on fire or be an utter disaster, hard to predict currently.

I think Bogle will take time to settle in but will eventually have a very prolific spell. It took Hearn 10 games to score a single goal for us and even longer to score his first away goal, but he still managed to bag 29. I think Bogle will be similar.

Rendell, Mangan or Bogle for me.

If Hearn stays fit all season it will be him, if Bogle makes the step up it will be him, otherwise it will be Parkin

If Constable took pens, i feel he could get at least 25, maybe even reach 30, which might just be enough.
But without pens, he will only get 20-22 at best, which will never be enough to finish Top Scorer in this league.
Will be interesting to see how Lafayette plays with JC & what his goal contribution could be.

I would tend to agree with you on Mangan, if Tranmere get off to a decent start, he could score goals for fun in this division and already has one golden boot in the Conference to his name. Without trying to sound like Donald Rumsfeld, for those old enough to remember him, there are probably one or two unknown players who may well feature. I don't wish to appear negative about my own team or players, though some of you might even agree with what I have to say, but I don't think Parkin will score as many goals as last season. The manager has brought in two new strikers and I have a feeling that he may rotate the front line, plus it is rare that any striker will have two brilliant seasons back to back. I would be happy if JP could find the net 20 times next season, which is probably nowhere near enough to make him the top scorer in the division.

Mangan is more of a 20 goal max striker. With Norwood getting in amongst the goals too I expect both to have decent returns but not be at the top of the charts. Bogle, Goldberg etc are unknown entities at this level. Rendell and Parkin will both get goals. I've always rated Alex Wall but can't see Bromley scoring enough for him to top the charts. Reeves, Constable, Danny Wright and Bowman will score a few.

For us Grey can match Moults goals from last year. Jennings will probably get limited opportunity though the middle again.

Parkin for me.

I'm not going to make any predictions for this category; it's always unexpected as one season a striker can be poor but then become good in the next season. Who would've thought LJL would score 20 last season after his history. IMO, Parkins older so I don't think he'll score as many and with Rendell, I think he's just past his peak but he'll still score as many if not slightly more than last season.

Edit: just realised I've made predictions:brill:

Parkin is the graeme hick of the football world he will score hatfuls against the smaller clubs with poor defences but will struggle against anyone decent, we saw this in his time in the f.l. He will still be up there though.

Like the cricket analogy ..... very illustrative.

I'll put a tenner on Rendell, had 1 less than Parkin last year and was injured for a good few months.

That's true, although scoring against the smaller clubs with poor defences in the league is about as easy as scoring against the bigger clubs at this level. He played a lot of games last season at a stroll, he's too good for this level tbh and it's surprising he's not still in the league, despite his size. Could quite easily have had his own goal of the season compilation, he's definitely not just a tap-in merchant with his goal from the half way line v Macc being a case in point. Should be capable of getting 25+ again, providing he stays fit and age doesn't start catching up with him.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mangan or Norwood win it, need to see how Brabin uses them first though. Keep it on the deck and thread through balls for them and they'll cause a lot of teams trouble.

Thats good news brabin wont get away with hoofing it up the middle on merseyside no matter how successful it is, he will lose the supporters very quickly

Going of pre-season for us Amond looks a good bet eachway at 25/1 as does Arnold if he goes upfront like he has in pre-season at 20/1
Others include Hearn at 25/1 if he stays fit, Hannah at 40/1 if he plays regularly and suits Chester, possibly Walker at 50/1 if Barrow do well and likewise Bowman at 66/1 for Gateshead.

Just had a cheeky tenner each way on Padraig Amond. 25/1!!!! I don't think that price will last for long.
