Wow I knew Orient were paying decent money but had no idea the wage bill would be 4M +. Surely people like Dean Cox will leave, he looked quality last season. As said above though people like Henderson, Mcanuff and Simpson would tear this league a new one.

Do you think your manager will still be there next season, and out of curiosity, what sort of a financial loss have you posted this year? I assumed the wage cap would of stopped that sort of spending.

Does anyone know what Swindons budget was when they went up with Di Canio. He seemed to use like 50 players that season!

Swindon's budget was rumoured to have been in the region of £4m-£4.5m that season although I cannot vouch for it's accuracy!

Jesus christ. If that's the case I take it you'll be expecting to walk it? Not sure who has the highest budget this year. Probably Bury? But last year it was Fleetwood and that was only about 2.5 million.

Thing is, at the start of the season there were a lot of people saying Bristol City and Leyton Orient have the two best squads in League One. Expectations were of play offs minimum. For whatever reason, this has gone absolutely tits up. There's a lot of reasons; mismanagement, squad building, injuries (when Liverani took over, 15 players were out through injury), but it's just not happened.

In theory, even a team like:

Henderson - Simpson
Cox - James - Vincelot - McAnuff
Lowry - Baudry - Clarke - Pritchard
Woods
from next seasons contracted players should be top three minimum. I dare-say going into next season we will have a much stronger line up than that. Thing is, after how spectacularly we've fucked up this season I'm not expecting anything. I mean, expectations ought to be Champions (competing with Swindon for largest ever League Two wage bill, dare-say Henderson may well be the highest ever paid League Two player) but after this season I'm not counting any chickens for sure. It took us long enough to get out last time we were here, we've seen the likes of Bristol Rovers and Luton fall further... Although I've watched a bit of League Two over the last few years, and in my opinion there is a noticeable gap between the two divisions... Then again look at Tranmere :conf:

I mean, we may well stay up, but given in our last three games we've lost 1-0 to Doncaster (Outplayed them in the first half, the second half is the worst 45 minutes I've seen from a professional football team. Played a 3-0-7 formation lumping the ball to Henderson's head - he was up against 6'5 McCoombe and 6'7 Jones... Guess what happened?), 6-1 to MK Dons (last time we let in 6 was against Carlisle in 2002), and 1-0 to Rochdale (Even first half, go a goal down, don't have another shot for the last half hour) I don't see how we can get the 4-6 points required. So I don't think I'm jumping the gun posting here...

First two posts highlight some of the things that have gone wrong.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
I could see Orient having a £4 mill budget and still failing to bounce back.

Yep over-spending sides usually do well, but if you vastly overspend it could be like Rangers, a team full of players with zero interest being there who earn so much they don't care if they perform or not.

but maybe ~L2 could turn them about and they can push back on.

Dean Cox is utter quality. He's been well below par and missed games with injury, but still in the top 10 for league assists and has a decent goal return. I would imagine a lot of clubs would be in for him if we fell, but he's under contract and I really don't know whether we'd sell.

No idea on the losses front, it will be amazing to read our accounts when they're published. A leaked source says that including staff our overall company wage budget tops £7,000,000. That's utterly grotesque. Thing with the FFP (at least for L1 and L2) is that it only covers loans. So if Becchetti loaned us the money to cover it, we'd be so far in breach. If however he buys himself a nice little executive suite for £7,000,000.

As for Liverani... No idea. Slade had an ultimatum when we were mid table that he had to win against Notts County. Albeit only drawing he stayed on before Cardiff nicked him a few weeks later. Nugent then took over on an interim basis, that flopped. Then Milanese (was then sporting director) took over from him on an interim basis, still flopped. Then Liverani took over permanently (he has a three year deal) we got better, looked like surviving... and then we've hit freefall again. Nugent is still here in some sort of capacity, Milanese got the boot after he fell out with Liverani and we haven't had a sporting director since. Whether Liverani stays or not... Becchetti was at Rochdale last night and can not be pleased with what he saw. He's a rash man (Darius Henderson turned up at half time for a game after being stuck for 4 hours on the North Circular, at half time there was an announcement along the lines of 'Announcement for Mr Henderson. The president says thank you for turning up or words to that effect, lol/ gave Slade a stupid ultimatum...) and I don't see him taking relegation at all well. I think Liverani will probably go, certainly he's lost the fans.

Edit: Re Liverani.

Don't know how common knowledge this was, but apparently:

'When FB found out that Liverani's mother tongue was not English he was said to be extremely unimpressed and ready to get rid immediately. Not sure who the advisor / agent was that brought Fabio to Francesco's door as it was never mentioned'

So maybe Liverani will be gone.

I wouldn't worry about you following in our footsteps, our rumoured budget for the start of this season was £700k, almost six times less than yours! We've had a bit of investment since then but I wouldn't imagine we've gone over £1.2m. No idea how you're on the verge of being relegated with that budget!
