Cardiff City have arguably the strongest side in the Championship, with strength in depth all over the pitch! But to win the Championship, everybody knows you need consistency all the way through the squad.
But since the reign of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Bluebirds are yet to field the same starting XI over two games. And for me, this is one of the reasons Cardiff may not be sitting at the top of the table come May. Now I understand that everybody needs game time, but to be making three or four changes every game is ridiculous.
After the first three home games of the season, John Brayford who had recently come back from his loan spell at Sheffield United, was quickly becoming a fans favorite with some strong defensive displays and positive attacking runs, and then out of the blue, was dropped for the game against Wolves and the Bluebirds go on to lose 1-0. Now i'm not saying that a player may need a rest from time to time but to drop a player when he's in such great form just seems a bit silly to me!
Another case could be made about Kenwyne Jones, only got one goal in Cardiff's premier league campaign, but seems to have worked hard over preseason to get his fitness to the correct level to compete. And after bagging three goals in three games, you could possibly see him as a whole new signing. And after looking a threat from every long ball played up to him in his opening three games, he was then benched for the trip to Wolves, meaning Cardiff then seriously lacked the cutting edge they had in their opening fixtures.
So after the pair returning for the trip to Craven Cottage, Cardiff still looked shaky at the back but certainly had their attacking threat back and Jones got to add another goal to his already impressive tally.
So what everybody supporting Cardiff City wants to know is will Ole pick the same team for a single game? We will have to wait and see!
