im doing a WCW 96 nitro run at the moment, 1 a week. wcw is ridiculous at this point. some awesome matches but man I thought Cena was booked like superman. i'm not surprised Hulk Hogan ended up being the most hated face in wrestling in the mid 90's

Have you seen the brilliantly awful Uncensored 1996 yet NiallQuinn??

that is easily the worst PPV ever with that stupid 50,000 men Vs Hogan and Savage (plus 2 frying pans) match :fl: always good for a laugh.

Bash at the Beach, Road Wild, Fall Brawl, World War 3 1996 are all good.

but a shame you cannot get the Nitro's between Road Wild 1996 and Fall Brawl 1996 because that period storyline wise was superb with how the whacked the horsemen and Sting/Luger together as heels and faces unite to face the outside enemy, then firein the twist to end trust between all parties which leads to Stings loyalty.............it is superbly built that PPV.

you know what, i've just finished the nitro before (i think) Uncensored where they have a 6 man strap tag match between Flair, Anderson & Sullivan v Hogan, Savage & "Booty Man". absolute clusterfuck with all these lumberjacks at ringside beating up everyone APART from Hogan. Then amid all this carnage, Hogan dominates everyone and gets the win over World Champion Ric Flair with the Big Boot and Leg Drop. Then they announce the 4 Cages match at Uncensored with Hogan having to face Anderson, Sullivan, Luger & Flair in 4 seperate cages.

I'm definitely not looking forward to THAT match :gmc:

no no its brilliant if you go into it expecting the ultimate wrestlecrap of wrestlecrap.

It served a purpose though I believe that period before Uncensored and Uncensored 1996 which turned the crowds badly against Hogan which let them convince him to finally turn heel.

although I must admit as I watch 1996 and am now at December Hogan entering the NWO did a lot of harm, iit got publicity but took away a lot on the story to be about him than the outsiders.

Do watch out for Finlay Vs Regal at Uncensored 1996 its a hidden classic.....absolute brutal brawl with some real stuff shots.

Yeah i'm a bit gutted they haven't got WCW Saturday Night on the network yet. That's where you have the guys like Benoit, Malenko and Regal all seemingly working.

I can't believe how awkward of a heel Miss Elizabeth looks. She should never have been turned. She's a face for life!

Saw a killer match between The Steiners and the Roadwarriors though on this Nitro. Absolutely love early 90's Steiners, probably more than any other team.

I've been cracking on with watching WM classics, watched Warrior vs Hogan last night at WM6. Say what you will about the in ring abilities of those two men, they still put on a classic in terms of just being damn entertaining.

WM7 next though... will probably not bother with the Hogan/Slaughter main event, but I'm gonna be all over that Warrior/Savage match. Of all the matches I saw at WM7, that was the standout in terms of matches I'd never even heard of that turned out to be fantastic.

Does this not keep up to date with Raw? I just signed up and I can't seem to find any recent episodes.

Yeah, some kind of contracty stuff means that they're constantly behind. I was disappointed when I found that out, too.

You mean the fact they have massive TV contracts who wouldn't just want them sticking it up the next morning when they show repeats all week to get their money's worth.

I think the way it will eventually go will be to have Raw or Smackdown live exclusively on the network, HOWEVER only if they up the amount of subscribers they're getting for the network. And that will only happen if they up the quality of the tv programming they're producing at the moment.

I mean, lets put it bluntly, this is usually the time of the year where we're getting absolutely top notch wrestling on our tv's through raw and smackdown leading up to Mania. But this year, whilst it's been an improvement to the absolute crap we got in the new year and through January, it still doesn't hold a torch to this time last year.
If it's still this average at the peak time of the year for wrestling, how bad will it get in October - November time when they have their usual slump :dk:

Yes, exactly that.

Not really sure what else I could have meant there.

But yes, that.

some very good stuff in that, but I'd watch it in clumps because the episodes are quite hit and miss.

but I think when I got the *cough* on the sly DVD's years back I watched a year in about 2 months watching 1-2 episodes a day. They may contain a lot of crap but they grip you in.

I usually just started when Austin won title at mania

Yeah that first year was hit and miss but you can start to see the wheels put in motion and see things come together. Having just watched the first episode, you've got DX being just Triple H and HBK (and Chyna), so no New Age Outlaws or X Pac. The Rock is still coming to fruition and is part of The Nation Of Domination. Undertaker is refusing to hit his brother Kane, Mankind is still in his old brown attire and Stone Cold is stunning Santa Clause. There is shite filler like Goldust when he was in one of his shite phases, Marc Mero (at least Sable is there!) and Kurgan, 8 Ball and The Godwins, but if you know what is to come, it's interesting seeing things as they start to happen.

98 is probably a little early for me. I've seen Raw from August 99 - July 00 and quite a chunk of 01, but I shall definetely watch it all through again when it goes on the Network. Given how long it took to get this on, watch WWE put a year on every year in real time, all so they get their money's worth in time.

Anyone watch the Austin + Heyman interview from Monday? Great stuff as usual. Austin got into full Stone Cold mode towards the end, brilliant.

Yeah i watched, interesting to note that ending. I wonder if they did that because there is actually a plan for it to happen or just to get people talking.

Not sure Austin/Lesnar is the greatest fit, really. I mean, surely it'd be great... but Lesnar/Owens would be amazing. And if Austin were to make one last return to the ring... surely he'd want to use that chance to get a dream match that we never got, against Cena?

Or failing that... I'd totally be up for Rock/Austin part IV!

Trying to watch NXT and the network is being utterly useless today. Constantly skipping and now completely paused.

They've added a shed load of raw and smackdowns from 2002 to 2004 this week. A lot of them are kind of new to me as it was from a hazy 'finish school, start work, always be out getting pissed' kind of era so i missed a lot of it.

03-04 are under rated IMO. But then, I was a huge HHH fan which was great. Some people won't be so fond. 03 was on YouTube a couple of years back.
