Tough game with Wycombe in form but a decent performance last night from the Pool against a higher league team. A few have shaken off niggly injuries and we've shored up the defence with Worley and Jones back.

Might go Ronnies favourite 3-5-2 and go for the draw, with Paynter and Fenwick up front and the Bingmeister in the hole.

I'll go 1-1.

Expect Wycombe to resort to every trick in the book in order to stop Sir Rakish, Fat Billy and Fenwick. Also, as long as they don't take the lead, everything will be fine and you'll actually say to yourself 'Hmm, Wycombe are a good side'. All that goes out the window when they score and resort to time-wasting, cheating and feigning injury.

The ref will obviously do nothing at all, and will signal only 2 mins of added time, when there really should be a rule that says a minimum of 15 mins should be added at the end of the 90 in every game Wycombe take part in.

Yep. When I think of Wycombe I liken them to some Serie A club. I used to enjoy watching Italian footy, but gave up as I literally can't stand time wasting and theatrics, some of which are worthy of an oscar.

TBF, there's a Wycombe fan on this forum who admits he doesn't like their style at all, and feels it's not doing them any favours. Can't remember his user name(sorry if you're reading this pal) but hopefully he'll contribute to this thread.

We looked a lot more solid last night when we switched to 4-4-2.Bingham & Fenwicks pace gave Sheff Utd all sorts of problems.
Hope Moore sticks with it.
Heard about Wycombes conduct from a few fans.

I can see an absolute hammering for us on Saturday, and a real wake up call for Ronnie, if it is actually needed.

If Magnay is still injured, god only knows what formation we will play, what with all 4 of our potential right backs injured. Mix this in with a weak midfield and dodgy centre backs, I fear the worst.

If I was Ronnie, I would be tempted to trial a 6-3-1 formation, whereby we play all 4 centre backs, and hope that atleast 2 of them can stay in position, whilst the other two try and win some headers.

There's 2 of us who hate what Ainsworth tells the players to do. As for the game we have problems in defence - Pierre is on international duty,Stewart is out until Christmas,Rowe is just coming back from injury and Donacien on loan from Aston Villa had a nightmare in his first game and got subbed he was so bad. :ffs: Fill your boots Hartlepool we'll lose this 2-0.

I noticed you had a little wobble lately after three straight wins in the league, is that down to injuries?

My bad Mowgli. That's even better then, as let's face it, Ainsworth may be a good manager and his tactics may be effective, but they're not winning your club any new fans. I've always believed in the 'each side plays to it's strength' saying, be it tiki taka or hoof ball, but time-wasting and theatrics are a big no-no in my book.

Pretty much mate. We were hoping to get Alfie Mawson on loan from Brentford again but he signed a permanent deal with Barnsley. We got Anthony Stewart back who got injured in his 2nd game with a knee injury that rules him out to Christmas.Danny Rowe is injured as well and Pierre is on World Cup duty with Bermuda or some other poxy little country like that. Our problem is like last season we have the smallest squad in The Football League due to finances so injuries or suspensions will obviously hurt us. We should be debt free next season after our ex chairman left us 6 million in debt.

I've lost count over the seasons how many times the opposition is struggling with injuries, only for us to get pasted 4-0.

True enough Mr Seston but we've got proper strikers now for the first time since the Boyd/Porter years so defeats to nil are less of an inevitability. Possible for sure, but I'm keeping the faith!! :2thumb:

Seems Danny Rowe will be fit for this game after all so central defence is covered,Paul Hayes will have a late fitness test. I'm feeling a little bit more optimistic we can get a point now.

He's passed a fitness test so starts up front with Gary Thompson. Only 5 on the bench but no strikers as Holloway is out injured.

Away in Greece at the moment, tough life, but am sad (no irony intended) that I don't get to see King Rakish in the flesh...

Anyway. Yup, everything already stated about our timewasting bullshit is true, hope it's a decent game if nothing else and if the Monkey Hangers have to score, you know who I want to get it.

Ok, so we've just scored, goals from all over the pitch are no bad thing but would be nice if our forwards chipped in too...

Magnay was seen spitting at Wycombe fans after his sending off, hope he gets a further punishment as spitting at people is disgusting.

I can't wait for that Hartlepool fans' 'rant' video on this spitting incident...

I imagine Magnay will be a big loss for Pools, so they could struggle this month.

OK let's get real. I have been on all the main Wycombe and Hartlepool forums and not once post mentions that Carl Magnay spat at the Wycombe fans. If this did happen, I would suspect it would have been mentioned and fans would be (quite rightly) outraged. So I strongly suspect that he did not spit at the Wycombe fans.

The original accuser has gone from saying Magnay was seen spitting to then saying "IF" he did it. Come on make up your mind instead of throwing frivolous accusations around and tarnishing a players reputation. Cufc17 is already assuming he's done it. What happened to innocent until proven guilty eh?

Back in the Rivals Forums days, I remember a fan going on every forum accusing fans of doing something disgusting (can't remember what) and without a hint of evidence he kept provoking outrage until somebody noticed he'd posted the same accusation for the last 10 or so weeks.

Anyhow, Hartlepool's wheels have already come off. Hopefully Ronnie can perform some fixes.

Our record against Wycombe in the last 8 games reads:

Played 8 Lost 8

I wasn't expecting much. I'm beginning to feel deflated over our run of results.
