Pleased with this Dawson signing. Putting aside Tranmere's deficiencies in the Kidderminster game, Dawson was head and shoulders better than anyone else in an other wise very poor Kiddy team.
I went to that game too, Tranmere 2 Chester 4 Boxing Day 1982 I think. Big crowd that day as the club had just been saved by Wirral council.
Can never remember Chester fans coming to Prenton park in large numbers, think they viewed Birkenhead as some sort of dangerous jungle.
Tranmere V Chester.
It's been a whole quarter of a century since we last met at Prenton park, if I remember rightly Chester won 2-1 despite a wonder goal from Mark Hughes. Chester were managed on a shoe string budget by the late great Harry McNally, whilst Tranmere were in their early stages of...
Can think of worse train journeys, those Virgin Pendolinos on the west coast main line make the journey in no time at all. I did have a ticket by the way, I'm not one of them scousers who hides underneath the seat when ever the guard comes around. That would make holding onto your piss difficult.
No! Lol. Too early for that.
But what was handy after arriving in Welling at 09:33 and having an excellent full English breakfast in one of the many greasy spoons on Welling high street. Set me up for a very long day on the ale. Only managed four pints before kick off which was a shame because...
Enjoyed my day out in Welling yesterday despite the football on offer, and for those who watched the game on TV, that wasn't Tranmere's worst performance of the season either. The baldy lino changed the result, never a sending off and up until that decision I thought Tranmere were the most...
I went to Welling today and would estimate 200- 250 Tranmere today in an unsegregated crowd of 1016.
The last time I went to a game which didn't have segregation was way back in the 1980/81 season away at the Shay, Halifax. It's great switching ends at half time.
I'm off to Welling on Saturday, bought my train tickets before the game was moved to an early kick off.
Thinking of going to the Bromley v Gateshead game after the Welling game has finished! Is this do able? Anyone with local knowledge would be appreciated.
Yes, good team Borehamwood and have some useful players. Wish Tranmere had Scott Doe in their defence. Borehamwood are a very unfashionable club at this level and I think that's part of the reason why Tranmere fans were so upset at getting beat by them.
Well that's hard to take, feels worse than a defeat. Harris, Hogan and Mangan pretty much ran the show for Tranmere today against a lightweight Kiddy outfit, that was until the introduction Singh.
Even worse, I've booked a day off to go to Welling and have already bought the train ticket.
