Going by our last few games, we have better attacking options this season - Baker, Lalkovic and even Rose have all helped us going forwards.
Against Wycombe the forced introduction of Chaplin on 25 minutes seemed to improve our ability to create chances so it will be interesting to see which...
I think he was pointing at his forearm, presumably where he felt it hit Roberts during the build up to our third goal.
When I saw Chaplin adjusting to head the ball I thought he had made the wrong decision, but to place it so deftly was superb. I usually reserve judgement when it comes to...
It definitely played into our hands in the first half, especially for the second goal. I thought Crawley looked quite good after the break, although without really troubling Forde.
Agree with the comments about Smith - I think the problem is that he's too isolated when the ball is played up to him; Main suffered the same problems against Colchester.
I watched the Yeovil highlights and, for his second goal, Smith had the ball at his feet with his back to goal and not one...
Intentional...?
It is frustrating when some teams (not all) are keen to waste time from the first minute; it doesn't make for an entertaining spectacle. But it's part of the game and we have to be savvy enough to deal with it.
In my opinion Paul Cook appears to be a risk-averse manager, preferring to control play and be solid defensively before worrying about attacking the opposition. There are positives and negative to this approach but when teams come to Fratton park content on defending for large periods of the...
Despite the knee-jerk reaction from some of our fans I thought we played well on Saturday and were very unfortunate not to get the win against a well-organised Carlisle. I'm confident that we'll be at the right end of the table again; hopefully we can go one step further this year.
That's how it looked to me. I assumed it was the application of the new rules for questioning and arguing with officials.
To be fair, there was hardly any dissent after that incident.
Well, disappointing not to get the win but an encouraging performance. To their credit, Carlisle were very organised throughout the second half but, equally, we really lacked that final pass.
I though Carlisle's goal was really good; I can't recall who got the assist but it was a great pass. I...
Fair enough - we've seen a number of our own players struggle with the pressure of an expectant Fratton crowd over the last few seasons and so I think I'm always a little nervous going into games like this.
Either way, I'm expecting a great atmosphere!
I understand from above that you're preseason hasn't been great, but why so much negativity?
I don't profess to know a lot about your team, but much of what I read about this year's league suggests Carlisle as one of the promotion/play-off contenders. Given that we will likely have 5-6 new...
Given the number of signings we have made over the summer (12?) I don't think anyone can be certain who will start - I just hope the new guys can hit the ground running (literally and metaphorically).
I'm hopeful of a home win, but I always have the opening-day disappointment of losing 4-1 at...
I believe that previously clubs in this competition were fined if their line-up did not include at least six players from their previous league fixture (or something along those lines). Does this still apply?
In a competition which is now being marketed as a way to better develop youth players...
