1,621 Villa at Sunderland. More importantly probably the best away SUPPORT, in terms of singing and noise, we’ve had this season. Love nights like this when only the real hardcore go.
Most intimidating grounds I’ve been to were probs Ayrsome Park, now that was proper Northern. Old Den, probably partly due to reputation. Maine Road, all those alleys. Both Mersey clubs, “you got the time mate?” and home of the Stanley. St Andrews, obviously being Villa.

Went to the Old Den a couple of times with Villa in the late 80s, early 90s. Never saw any trouble worse than anywhere else in them days but it did have something about it. Not sure if it was the reputation that made everyone so jumpy but I was always on edge when I went down there.
In the 80’s there were a fair few clubs who would take a large percentage of their home crowd to away games. In those days I would go to the odd Burnley away game, with a mate of mine who was a Burnley fan, in the old 3rd Division and they would often take over the town they were visiting. I can...
Seemed a few more there than that, and I’m pretty sure It was showing as over 2,600 sold on the Villa website a couple of days ago. However many I’m glad I made the trip!
Favourite away game of season had to be Reading on a Tuesday night, 4.5k Villa fans celebrating our first away win for what seemed decades.
Worst away game of season was Cardiff, we were terrible and atmosphere was really disappointing.
Best home supporters would be Huddersfield. There group...
If we are pushing for promotion I am pretty sure we will sell out everywhere. If we are mid table again not sure if away support will hold up as well as it has this year. Looking forward to Sheffield Utd though as always a good away day.
#avfc have been allocated the entire Darwen End Stand vs Blackburn Rovers (A). [@Rovers]
Should be a great last away day of the season. Already looking forward to it!
Just wanted to comment how impressed I was by the Huddersfield home support section next to the away end tonight. Constant, and I mean constant, singing for the whole game, even if the drum becomes a bit tedious after a while. Just proves what can be done if the club allow it, take note Dr Xia.
There was a definite turning of the tide at Cardiff with quite a few murmurs of discontent with Bruce around me. I don't get it. What this club needs without a doubt is stability and an experienced manager who has proved he knows what he is doing, i.e. Steve Bruce. Surely people must realise...
