    Pre-Season Friendlies Summer 2023

Lost 2-0 at Barnet. That's a relief. Another bonus is to finish pre-season (matches) with no injuries and all longer term injuries from last season back in full training.

    Starting Line-ups

With the arrival of Sullay Kaikai, the starting 11 and bench are already looking more balanced. GK: Stevens (Mannion equally capable) Defence: Liam Bennett, Ryan Bennett, Michael Morrison, Danny Andrews (main backups Okedina, Ibsen Rossi, Dunk. Awaiting Haunstrup) Midfield Holding : Paul...

    Starting Line-ups

I think we're looking for two wingers, a striker and a possible RB/RWB backup before the window closes. Youngsters on the bench will go out on loan once they've arrived. My best guess would be: GK: Stevens (Mannion equally capable) Defence: Liam Bennett, Ryan Bennett, Michael Morrison, Danny...

    The Play Offs

Cumbria doesn't exist anymore. Cumbria, I shall Iift mine eyes up onto the hills. 1974 - 2023 R.I.P. Carlisle is back in Cumberland and Barrow is in Furness (and Westmorland) with Lancashire FA and Cricket leanings.

Andy Madeley - That was never a penalty. He's been a Premier league Ref since 2019. His older brother, Bobby Madeley, was a Prem ref from 2013-18, when he was quietly sacked for making a dodgy video.

On the slide since October - well since we won at Morecambe in our 10th game on 24 September. We didn't drop into the bottom 4 until the New Year.

Congratulations to Vale for staying up. Thanks to Barnsley for waking up and saving Vale as well as putting our fate firmly in our own hands. Just need Burton to do their job (fine chance) and make our final day more relaxing than the nervous shit show I know it's going to be. Don't care if...

How Many Games Have You Attended?

I can't be bothered to work out the numbers but last season must have been my peak for numbers of live matches ever. Certainly over 50. It was partly a response to lack of games to attend the previous season through Covid, partly the new grounds (Wednesday, Sunderland, Ipswich, etc) to get to...

How Many Games Have You Attended?

As Laker said, our lads have been good this year with some outstanding individuals in a well coached squad. Some of them were in a decent team last year and have improved. The best were already on loans at lower level clubs mixed with time in our 1st team matchday squads, joining the (mainly...

How Many Games Have You Attended?

After next week, I'll have done Home - 26 (incl. 2 League Cup and 1 FA Cup) Away - 12 (incl. 1 FA Cup). Well down on last season, mainly due to health. FA Youth Cup - 3 home ties and the quarter final at the Emirates Barrow AFC - Sadly only Oldham away fitted this season. Cambridge City...

If I were neutral I'd agree. But we now definitely definitely need to win on Saturday and Bolton just experienced what it is to be Colemaned. I know a guy who was playing at Accrington when John Coleman first arrived there and the tales he has of the antics they got up to in order to win a...

We still "just" have to beat Coleman/Accrington and get above nul pointes MK. Then it'll be between Oxford and Accrington on the final day IF we beat FGR Edit: Morecambe have got me worried again.

My extra bit of optimism depends on Bolton beating them tomorrow night. If that happens, they can't catch Oxford (or MK). Should they get something at Bolton, they'll still be in the mix on Saturday (although I still think they'll go down) and John Coleman will come into his own. Whatever...

I agree. If Oxford or ourselves can't win 2 of our remaining 3 games, we'll deserve our fate. If MK can get a win at Burton (or against Barnsley :dk: ) or even two draws, then we'll need at least 7 points from the 3 to survive. But I think we're as likely to do that as MK to pass 44 points...

They have us at 39% to survive. That feels about right, with MK at 74% and Oxford at 84%, but I'm a bit more optimistic. Best bookies' odds I can find for us to survive are 15/8 (35%). I'm tempted at that but I expect they'll be a bit longer after Saturday.

I think we might get to 46 points (which would be a cracking 16 points from 9 games since 1 April) but might well need 47 or more to compensate for our goal difference. Vale probably escape if they get something on Saturday, their best chance. Oxford probably "just" need to match our results...

I'm glad you're relaxing and feeling safe .......... because there's a (very optimistic) scenario where we're above you going into our final games (FGR for us and MK for you). We'd need to beat Wycombe at the Abbey on Tuesday and Accrington on the penultimate Saturday (writing off Plymouth...
