Wasn't there, but from all accounts Dale struggled a bit against a solid and competent Mansfield team. Defended reasonably well, but the Stags took their one clear-cut chance, and didn't have enough nouse to penetrate their defence.
Two home games last week against top half (at least) teams...
A bit "bare bones" today for Dale. Assuming it's 4-2-3-1 as usual:
O'Donnell
Keohane, Graham, EEL, John
Diougaraga, Brierley
Sinclair, Ball, Rodney
Hendo
Subs: Kelly B, Seriki, Nelson, McNulty, Malley, Kelly O, Tulloch
Jim McNulty has made over 10 times as many FL appearances as the other six...
Middling. Knows where the net is but tends to drift out of games. Better central than on wing for me, but we play 4-2-3-1 and he has Quigley, Henderson and Tahv Campbell for competition as the 1. I'd personally try him as the middle of the three just behind...
Frustrating.
Kept the Gas out for an hour, conceded the usual soft goal from a set piece and, despite huffing and puffing couldn't force an equaliser.
Jim Bentley not a happy bunny "no point in putting a decent performance in for all but a minute of the game..."
I suspect changes to the...
Did a reasonable job on loan at Dale a few years ago. Not the most gifted player, but always put effort in - and set up our opener against Spurs in the cup by winning a 30-70 tackle in midfield.
Not next Tuesday we're not. No midweek game this week, FA Cup at The Gas on Saturday, then Salford at home on Tuesday 8th (assuming we don't draw in Bristol??)
Eliminated, but unbeaten except on penalties. A reasonable game last night, with not much to choose between the teams, except that Salford scored 50% more penalties than us in the shootout.
Downside is that Quigley came on as sub, picked up an injury, had to go off again and may be doubtful...
Agree about their fans being mostly a decent bunch. When we played them at the end of last season and they brought a big following, a handful of idiots let them down at the match, but the hundred plus who I shared a pub with afterwards were decent, friendly, civilized people.
I had to Google Needham Market. Basically Ipswich away, but get off the train two stops before (or after, if you go via London).
Wouldn't mind them, or maybe Charlton away (decent trip to London, and they're not having the best of seasons so progression is possible against them.)
All to play for on Tuesday night at Spotland (if anyone cares).
Both Dale and Salford have drawn with Accy, and beaten Liverpool's brats by the odd goal. However, Classless of 92 got an extra point from the Accy penalty shootout, unlike Dale.
If Dale win, they're through, and Accy v...
Wasn't there
Wasn't there so can't comment on the match. Should have followed my hunch about Quigley and Canavan, but thought that both might get sent off rather than score...
Probably the wrong Fred, but fits here in terms of tinpottedness if not L2.
The following has just appeared on my Facebook feed (perils of knowing Scots people):
