Its not really that tricky.
We get small crowds and as such limited revenue. We buy a player for around 200k-500k and then sell em on for millions.
People argue that it is just the chairmans money that enables the initial purchase...6-7 years ago that was the case, but after receiving near...
Posh beat Dale 4-1 today, but strangely enough there was very little between the teams apart from the finishing. In fact Dale could and should have been out of sight after the first 20 minutes.
However, it is a long time since we have looked as clinical as a strike force as Cummins and Godden...
Good point...and yes I do...but our chairman will never stand in the way of a player going because a) on crowds of 4-6k we cannot afford too and b) why stand in a players way and have an unhappy player sitting in the stands sulking?
You are just not getting it. Are you suggesting that Marriott did not have potential and that during the course of 9 months playing for a woeful mid table Posh team he just 'suddenly' became good...if he was so shite at Luton then why would Posh pay 500K for him. That is a lot for a player with...
My apologies your initial post stated you wanted to do well and get 'promotions'.
Well done on your 2013 play-off win and promotion from Div 3 though and all the other non-promotion stuff you now mention. It has indeed been a good five years for you.. We got relegated from the Championship that...
Very easy in the end for Peterborough against Bristol Rovers...although with a previous 9 of W7 D2 L0 in our favour it was most probably everyone's banker of the day...decent enough start though even if we never really got out of 1st gear.
Posh absolutely cruising 2-0 at half time against a very poor Bristol Rovers who are still insisting that Timid Tommy Nicholls is a pro-footballer...Timid Tommy has even picked up a booking which is possibly 1 more than the number of goals he will score again this season.
Of course Luton suffered. They could have made 5m instead a possible R1m. Peterborough achieved a profit of R4m for just one season...Do keep up with the argument!
Really? ...and yet after the terrible season you state a team such as Posh, who in the past 5 years have spotted and sold the likes of Assombalonga / Gayle / Washington / Tomlin / Marriott (not to mention Mclean/Craig MS/Boyd just before them) for silly money, were still able to spot the...
Well nothing here to explain accusations of being on a wind up or a lack of education.
Also nothing to detract from my original argument that Luton were unable to spot the fact they had a 5m asset?
I am confused (perhaps my lack of education), but wasn't he struggling to get a game at Luton? If he had been considered a first choice forward at Luton and thus played and scored more is there not a chance you may have made the same sort of money as Posh did.
I am failing to see how that is...
