Yes. Much easier with the benefit of a replay of course, so I can see why the Barrow manager and supporters called it wrong, but actually the Barrow player goes in studs first and knocks McClean off his feet, no real attempt to play the ball. The Barrow player should have been given a yellow at...
Yes, away fans will remain in the same place, in the Yale stand, just past the bottom right of this picture. All seated and covered.
The temporary stand will be in the left hand side of this picture, in the space where the old Kop was and where the new permanent Kop stand is planned.
It's a pity they couldn't stick a roof on it too. I'm not sure I would fancy sitting there in the open in January.
I do think it will sell out for every league game though. They will have already done the maths and wouldn't be building it otherwise. Having a four sided ground again for the...
TBH I think people should be a bit more respectful of our achievements at Wrexham. Considering we have had to resort to lower league journeymen on free transfers (Mullin and Lee) and unproven young loan players (Okonkwo), we are doing well to compete with the big boys of League 2.
It is Luke Armstrong.
McClean. £250k is way off. Wigan needed to get him off the wage bill and wanted £100k which we said no to. That’s why it took longer than hoped.
I’m reliably informed that the fee was nowhere near that. Less than £100k.
He played 46 games in the Championship last season, He was Wigan’s player of the season and he just got his 100th cap for the Republic of Ireland. It’s hard to argue that he isn’t a good signing.
Losing players left right and centre, the manager is complaining about the budget and saying they can’t compete with National League clubs, they have a big hole in their finances. They’ll finish bottom two for sure.
I think there is a difference between a club with a dodgy owner (we have had plenty of those ourselves) and a club which has been directly funded by criminal activity and has stolen promotions and league places from others. Without that funding that club would still be playing in a village league.
The rumour is that he failed the Parkinson character test and so we didn't proceed. He meets all prospective signings to assess their character and team fit before signing them, and he didn't get good vibes from Powell.
Yes to 3 up 3 down and yes to EFL League 3. Better governance of the National League is certainly needed and being part of the EFL would bring that, and it would bring all national leagues below the PL under one roof - the National League would then be when regional football starts.
The TV...
When Fleetwood pipped us (Wrexham) to promotion to the EFL from the National League, a fair few of our fans highlighted the unsavoury business practices of Pilley, but were labelled as sore losers.
They should never have been an EFL club or even a National League club - that whole football club...
It'll be made up of sponsorship, money from Disney for the documentary, merchandising, the US tour. That's the model they've built - they have used their profiles to create a publicity machine which brands (particularly American ones like United Airlines) want to be involved with.
