We had a 19-season streak (1974/75–1993/94) where we finished in the bottom half each season bar one (10th in 1982/83), a descent where we went from playing titans such as Blackburn, Watford, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Wrexham, to microbes such as Runcorn, Merthyr, Slough, Witton and Woking.
Intended to reply to this earlier, but yeah if you've been putting up with the Morning Wood saga for an entire generation then that alone makes you deserving of a football league place. One can only imagine the terrible tales that accrue over that time...
Can't even imagine the sort of team...
NWCL football for Bury sounds such a joke. The logistics of such a high-profile team making away trips to Prestwich Heys, Bacup Borough, Atherton Laburnum Rovers and Chadderton, especially given Bolton have a half-chance of fulfilling those same fixtures? Then again those footballing powers have...
Very enjoyable comeback that I am sure will be irritating Barra fans over leaving with nul points. Lots of confidence in the team, and well-placed aggression. Combining that will with the winning mindset and we’ve secured 16 points already, which is worth marvelling over given our pre-season...
It might be the only one we put in this season, it might be one of many, but that was a title-winning sorta performance from Town. Two goals from the counter in the first half, then the second half was pretty commandeering, enjoying ourselves and scoring two from some great play. Quick and...
Flyde. The "hold my beer" team to anybody who thinks Salford are a bit jumped up.
They'll have a week of training behind them, determined to prove to Flydefan that last week's performance was just a blip.
Defence will need to be at least as good as usual, crowd will need to show their support...
Re-reading that Morning Wood article on a desktop and getting entertained by it all over again.
"Most of that was done on crowds that I could fit into my back garden but you would expect them by now to of really improved." What a sentence. Quite a neat little flex to say that 250 or so could...
Good luck to both Notts County and Wrexham. We don't understand you or where you come from but we're in awe of you, and are wanting for just one mote of that magick sparkle you both possess. A group of us will be gathered around Halifax's television set, and we plan to sacrifice one of our most...
Hats off to whoever made those Partisans, International Brigades and Anti-Nazi flags on display by the Cae Ras terrace btw. Really great to see at a football ground but would probably be banned from somewhere like the Shay just in case they upset an atavistic Ustaše cell of season-ticket holders.
I thought that was terrific. It was lovely to see all those little Wrexham faces light up last night upon their famous win, jumping up and down whirling their shirts in the air after smashing little Halifax. They even stopped singing about us a few times to celebrate their team's achievement...
Why are we all posting doggerel that starts off in limerick form before nosediving? Can I join in?

Since reforming, we've topped the league thrice after three games in the Conference: 2014/15, 18/19, and now 19/20. We finished 9th and 15th previously I believe, but no-one remembers final positions when you're mid-table. Still very fine to set the pace in this way, and doesn't do us harm...
