Nice one. I agree that it's probably better to play them at this point: these squad overhauls under the burden of expectation tend to produce hiccups. Whether it ends up being so tough or not, it'll be framed as our biggest test.
And ironically given how much is supposed to have changed since...
Beyond the gamesmanship, did they actually look like a side with players on half-million contracts? We go there on Tuesday for our most local away game of the season, and I think whether we treat them as some sort of "scalp" or not, it'll look a lot different to our easily sussed opposition in...
Missed that whole #FootballMustWin hashtag as I didn't read up on their whole agent scandal. Quite a fabulous one for them to adopt though, up there with Streatham Rovers' #NeverStopNotGivingUp.
Yeah, given their cutbacks, along with Gateshead's and to a lesser extent, D&R's and The Vision's, I expect them all to be struggling this season. The problem is we've gone full-time, and that fact alone has convinced a big chunk of our fanbase, up until these friendlies at least, that We're...
1–2 loss at home to Boston United. Can't believe how bad we are. There are simply no signs of a team in there yet. First time I've dreaded the start of the season.
Cheers for that, I guess! Maybe we are playing with wing backs this season, currently got I think four wingers on our books...
Any other thoughts from the Grosvenor Vale crowd? Doubt you saw him moving to West Yorkshire, but any suspicions he could play higher or was he simply a fairly dodgy...
Any views on us new signings, Mekhi McLeod, Ryan Sellers and Josh Staunton? Sounds like we're going for the interesting approach of buying all the talent out of the south east so a few cockney sides finally go down next season.
The only thing I'm arsed about with Shaw Lane folding is whether Gainsborough get a reprieve, as the relegated side from Step 2 with the most points. Shirley they can go a further 145 years without a promotion or relegation?
Yet to be a regular in any side but is certainly taking a drop here for what should hopefully be his opportunity, a good half way into his career. Looks to have some silky skills that we'd be delighted to see put to use.
Can imagine it's a great league for the southern conquistador, having easy trips in all directions south-east while seeing all features "the north" has to offer: well-built, industrial Pennine grandeur (us), the Lakes and salt marshes (Barrow), the true canny gritty north-east like (Hartlepool)...
I hope he does find others, after all he found this lot in the first place. That being said there's nowt wrong with bringing someone like Hotte on board. Anyone in your league would do well with him I'm sure.
According to Wikipedia, "Hashtag United has a chairman who doesn't want to be known publicly, but who is a big investor and who has helped the club becoming reality."
On the sidebar on the right it mentions that Hashtag United's chairman is Lee Chan Song.
Would happily take that third prize. I love fell running me, and leaving a load of much fitter and better built men around my age for the dust would mean a great deal for my fragile ego.
From a personal point of view, that season where Kiddy/Mansfield dominated was a heyday of sorts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012%E2%80%9313_Football_Conference
Pretty interesting set of teams for this level spread out fairly evenly despite a gaping hole in the southwest (as with this year)...
