Altrincham is a decent away, and Gateshead is fine if you just treat it as a weekend in Newcastle rather than the 2 hours at the stadium.

Fairly sure Reading have one of the bigger drop offs between Saturday and Tuesday attendances so not sure it's particularly useful for them either.
All Reading home matches in midweek kick off at 8pm. Same with Bolton (I think?).
Something to do with congestion/traffic/giving people the best chance to get to the match if they're travelling in. Whether it makes any difference isn't something I'm aware of.
