Superb innings from Root and Ali, solid from Stokes at the end of the day too. Make no mistake though, this is flat and the easiest batting innings we will play on in the entire series, so lets make the most of it and post 500+ see if we can apply the pressure on them infront of an expectant...
Erhun Oztumer is a special little man. What were posh thinking? We sounded turd for an hour, the equaliser changed things and we missed a few good chances to win it after.
1 defeat in 10.
Excellent away win, that makes it 1 defeat in 9 now.
What a player Oztumer is, we have replaced a very good number 10, with probably the best number 10 in the division (bar Dack, who isn't ripping up the trees he was last season). Sounds like he got a couple of stunning goals today. Why didn't...
Broad's totally lost all of his rhythm, looks a shadow of himself when on form.
Impressive little spell at the end of the day from Stokes, but England need quick wickets or else an embarassing loss is on the cards with how poorly we bat when the ball turns.
My thinking is that, we had to rely on a catastrophic collapse in the 1st game as they handed us victory from the jaws of defeat and with our chasing record in the last few years, we feel more comfortable chasing in any conditions.
This is pathetic. Good tidy bowling performance though.
I would rather get these out of the way now and get used to these conditions before the winter.
At this stage, Matt is the absolute standout contender, but you always get someone that looks a sure top 2 candidate, that suddenly has a shock cook and gets eliminated, so not sure it's that great he is as good as he is currently, if previous years are anything to go by anyway.
Stokes and Duckett going very well, can stokes really knuckle down and get a big one? All too often he gets a quick 40-60 odd, then goes for 1 too many and gets out. It's not the kind of wicket where you can just slap it everywhere each ball.
If we can get to 280-300 here, then that's a good...
No shock in all honesty is it? Shocking start to the season, worse than any Coventry fan thought it would/could be. Reasonable side on paper, with some decent strikers. Shouldn't be losing to AFC Wimbledon at home in a must win game.
Who next for the job?
Another brillant season, good ending - a bit different this time. I see Season 5 is looking likely to be the last, which is fair enough, 5 seasons of this kind of thing is about right.
Enjoyed Nigella week, I much prefer having her there over Marco-Pierre White who makes everything so awkward and has that annoying hand gesture every time he talks which distracts me.
