Well that was a pleasant surprise. Clearly we caught the Gas at the right time given their shortage of centre backs, but we put in a solid performance nonetheless. Belshaw in goal for the Gas was superb and kept the score down.
If the big boys are paying roughly 10x or more what the smaller clubs can afford, EFL1 must be the most financially lop-sided league in English professional football, perhaps bar the National League?
As for Exeter, I can't remember who it was but I faintly remember someone from the 70s/80s era Anfield boot room saying it's always time to strengthen, particularly so when you are strong. But the window doesn't shut for ages yet.
No. All the stand out players for us from 2021-22 were guys we already had from the season before. The difference was the new manager probably, who was something of an unknown when he joined.
USA is good at it because it's a popular sport among US girls and women, and there are lots of them. I would imagine the US men will get better and better too as the demographics in the country change.
This is nail on the head for me - pay your debts first before paying big wages. Otherwise any quick promotion back to the Championship is at the creditors' expense (many of whom are local SMEs I am guessing).
Imagine if we blended the home shirt with the away shorts and the socks from the third kit. It would look like a bomb had gone off in a highlighter pen factory.
Fair question if a kit clash was a necessary precondition to change kit. But as far as I can tell (from watching FGR anyway) that stopped being the case years ago. After all, if the first team never wears the third kit, how can the club expect fans to buy it?
