Buckingham makes a lot of sense for us. From Oxford, former youth player and coach here under Wilder. Gained a lot of experience around the world and would be instantly popular if he came back. I think the fact he is part of the city group of coaches, that Manning was also part of, is the icing...
Not at our best today. Rovers on top in the first half and we had to defend well. Getting the first goal was important. Mills coming on at half time seemed to change things and we should’ve made things more comfortable second half but were sloppy. Lost our heads a bit in the final 10 minutes...
Gavin Whyte is a great signing, should definitely be pleased with that one. Not quite made the step up to Championship level but easily one of the better wingers at League 1 level. Much more disciplined in his play the second time we had him, which ruined the fun of watching him a little bit...
We are close to completing a loan deal for GK James Beadle from Brighton. We are also looking at either a loan or perm deal for midfielder Tim Akinola from Arsenal and have had an offer accepted for forward Tyler Burey at Millwall.
Looks like it will be 3 signings in 3 days for us with Josh McEachran joining from MK. He’s an Oxford boy and was obviously with Manning at MK so a bit of a no brainer.
Nathan Holland (West Ham) and Gavin Whyte (Cardiff) have both returned to Oxford on season long loans. Got some very good options out wide now with Billy Bodin, Ryan Williams, Joel Cooper and Dan Agyei already in the squad.
We are set to sign former Reading midfielder Liam Kelly on loan from Feyenoord and West Ham winger Nathan Holland this week. Also trying to sign Stephen O’Donnell from Kilmarnock as a Cadden replacement and potentially looking to bring back Marcus Browne on loan who was with us last year.
