Seen a bit of Scots Champ, I'd say it's overall roughly on a par with NL although it is much more route one than what you see in modern day 5th tier. To give it's due though, proper blood and thunder competitive league much more so than SPL.
As you say we signed a load of Scots L1 and Champ...
Few of your players we might be interested, Chapman is obvious. Clarke Oduour, does he play much? I think he'd be great in the NL, Hendrie is a possibility although he's injured. Odusina seems a likely target but I know he got fucked over by the club on a contract and won't entertain coming back...
We took 17k to the Millenium Stadium years ago and have missed several chances to play Wembley because of re-development and Covid. I think we'd take at least what we did to Wales if not 20k ish. There would be a lot of local interest.
Bromley were not as bad this season, they absolutely schooled us at The Vic, really good side. We did beat them at theirs but they definitely weren't as shithousey as usual. Woodman seems to like us though and has openly admitted he'd like our manager's job so maybe he's got no axe to grind as...
Guess it depends how long you've been watching them really, I've been going since 1996 so the re elections happened well before my time, I've seen us have more league 1 seasons than NL.
It's not the results side that's depressing any more it's the lack of numbers, most of the games don't feel...
Once you get relegated a second time you get used to losing to no mark sides but it is the lack of atmosphere and away numbers and that still depresses me. It is just so bleak.
Around 5 pints before the game numbs it a bit so that's exactly what i do.
Cass was quality for us, really surprised he hasn't become a L1 regular.
Can't see us signing him, he'd get a league club plus we're getting the familiar 'we must be patient' articles in the local rag, the same article we read every year once every manager bar none under Singh gets given his...
Just had a glance at their results and their record this year is poor against the big strong shithousey sides, got beat off Woking and Ebbsfleet who are similar ilk as well.
Hard to say really but probably one of Barnet, Bromley or Solihull. Think anyone has a chance down to Oldham (who could be dangerous if they scrape 6th or 7th).
As a team you've gotta hand it to the Heed, the club has a clear plan, they are light years ahead of us and are probably the best pure footballing team in the division. I think a more streetwise side will win the PO mind. We just sat off them but I do wonder how they'd get on v. someone who'll...
Kevin Phillips only has a contract until the end of the season which is a good thing. Lots of players are out of contract but nothing will change until Singh sells up. He won't though.
I don't think I'll ever get over it bearing in mind that I live in fucking Gateshead. Thankfully no one supports them so I can stay under the radar.
Embarrassing doesn't even cover it.
He'd be paired with Tom Parkes who's getting on a bit but looks very solid. More pace in a snail than them two but still an upgrade on who was playing before.
Bromley are still massive shithouses but have evolved into a reasonable footballing side this season, the fact that refs put on more added time has curbed a lot of the funny business. It gives no pleasure saying it but they've got a real chance in the play offs. Barnet are on the flakey side...
