Definitely the better side out there so far without creating much, nice football at times, there's a good team developing here. Bit more cutting edge we could get a couple more. Expecting Hurst to get them fighting after the break mind.
Lots of chatter about possible lack of commitment from our two best players, both haven't been great for a while so it just shows what a good job Askey is doing that these two (for whatever reason) aren't firing and we've been doing as well as we have.
I don't think it is lack of desire, both...
Out of contract
Jamie Sterry (obvious keep)
Peter Hartley (old and past it - get rid)
Nicky Featherstone (thanks but time to go)
Mo Sylla (keep, playing out of his skin)
Ben Killip (get rid)
Dunno what deal they're on
Brendan Kiernan (barely played - can't remember if he was a loan or perm)...
I think it's a confidence thing with Josh at the minute, remember when he was sent clear on goal Saturday and inexplicably tried to square it for Jennings, you could see in his eyes from where I was (Cyril Knowles next to away end) he just didn't back himself. He's not getting as many shots away...
We do look quite dangerous switching up to a 433 with Wes McDonald coming on, he is a brilliant impact player. Askey just picks the same team, it is arguably our best XI and you can see the team benefitting from that. His changes aren't rocket science but he times them well.
Second half we were the better side but credit to Swindon who are a good footballing outfit, controlled the first half, play nicely through the thirds but definitely can be got at and that's what we did, pressure told eventually. This team never give up, amount of late goals we score is insane...
He's been good to be fair, technically very sound, works hard, just what you need for the battle. I'd prefer someone a bit more direct to play off Umerah but I can't knock him, he's surprised me.
The team is a work in progress but is not bottom 2 material. Finally got a proper manager in, players putting a shift every week, some of them totally reborn. Fans behind the club, Northern Line up to Newcastle rocking, genuine belief now.
Lost me voice, missed that feeling, Vic bouncing, place went off for the winner. Shite weather decent looking crowd, Parmo for tea. The world is a good good place.
Yeah total different ball game, people go on about the shithousery here but fuck me like, it's another level there, the only thing for me was the first game v Dover and reality set in, not three seasons more like thirty minutes.
Went to a Northern League game midweek, proper football, both...
As mad as it sounds, Euan Murray will be a big miss for us tomorrow. He's been class since he got back in the side under Askey.
Really need a win or it's curtains.
You were lucky to get a point but we just can't catch a break at the minute, spirited displays, can't knock the lads etc but it's just not happening to the extent we need. That's not a sleight on Askey or the players who have generally given it their best this year (more a case of god awful...
