Interesting snippet on L1 budgets this season from our CEO this afternoon.
Our budget ended up 12th in L1 last season. Due to the influx of money from the promoted and relegated sides, to maintain a 12th placed budget this season we'd have to increase it by 68% and now have a bottom quartile one.
This, basically.
I do think shithousery, gamesmanship or whatever else you want to call it is an an all-time high with so much going on. The extra periods of injury time because of timewasting and slowing the game down didn't last long either did it, we're back to pretty standard stuff now.
In...
Never a good sign when your substitutions are roundly booed is it!
We're morphing back into a passive, low possession, boring Kennedy side (Huddersfield first half and Reading games aside), albeit our attacking stats haven't quite lowered to the bottom of L1 like they did under him. He's got a...
From the L2 forum a couple of weeks back when Grimsby mentioned they might be in for him.
He's not really been involved in many of our squads really, probably 6th choice attacking player, which for a side who score about one goal a game isn't a glowing endorsement I know!
He's been absolutely stinking this season, full of errors and brain farts. He started the season at LWB (admittedly not really his position, he's more of a winger) and then got dropped after two or three calamitous games. Came on as a sub at Shrewsbury a few days ago and punched the ball to give...
Rotherham and then Stevenage for us, I don't think you can get two more direct sides back to back!
Jackson was back on the bench yesterday after having his cheekbone smashed at Rotherham in the reverse fixture and he'll start in place of Montsma. Hamilton will probably come in for Erhahon with...
Self destruct button yesterday, our best player getting two yellows in quick succession for dissent at 1-0 down, one of which was after the HT whistle I think.
We're in a bit of a rut at the minute, 5 losses in 10, only 1 win in 10. Nothing we do is quite working, we have to work hard to score...
Who knows what Lincoln we'll get today? Not really and ideal game after the Shrewsbury game but let's hope we see more of a Reading performance than a Shrewsbury one.
We haven't really done clean sheets this season so we'll need to score a couple to even be in with a chance of three points.
In the midst of a marathon stretch of away games (12 out of 17 away).
Since the end of October, 8 of our 11 have been on the road (and hardly down the road either at Bristol Rovers, Wrexham, Chesham, Crawley, Exeter etc). After being away again tomorrow at Bolton, we're at home twice in four...
Yeah, they were very poor as well. I'm amazed they're up there at the minute, albeit I'm not sure there home/away discrepancy in from is sustainable over a full season!
Either across to Tuxford, Bakewell and then through the winding road of the Peak District or drop down to Newark, across to Sutton, Matlock and then up to Macclesfield.
I've done it both ways, the motorway route is longer but at least it feels like you're actually getting somewhere rather...
We're so frustrating at the minute. More like our normal selves in the last two or three games and then we go to Shrewsbury and turn that sort of performance in. Not good enough in both boxes at the minute.
Mind you, we've never beaten an Ainsworth side and I can only remember one Boxing Day...
The worst we've had at SB were Reading (even with 11 men), Charlton and Wigan.
I think people who went to the Posh and Rotherham away games were genuinely gobsmacked at how poor they were as well but I think that was probably off the back of how they were expecting to perform this season...
Don't know if our DoF is being coy but Rob Street aside, it doesn't sound like he's expecting much, if anything, to be changing in our striker department.
Macclesfield was one of those type of trips back in the L2 days as well wasn't it - about 80 miles away but seemed to take about 2½ hours as well. A right ball ache.
We've won our last three against Shrewsbury but prior to that, our record against them was a bit sketchy.
I suspect Sir Gareth got them competing better, bit more physical and bit more streetwise so I don't this'll be quite a 6th vs 24th kinda game.
Jackson and Hamer aside, we're in a pretty...
There's a been more underachieving sides this year as well so far I think - Posh, Rotherham, Blackpool and Charlton being four.
I don't know what points totals have been like for the bottom four at this stage in previous seasons but 12 points a piece for Shrewsbury and Burton seems lower than...
Suspect it's probably an initial 6 month extension to the end of the season, followed by another year and then a second based on availability. He'd probably have to retire if he got a 4th ACL so I'm guessing we've protected ourselves (although we did give him another contract when he was injured...
Lewis Montsma has signed what's been classed as a 'phased, multi year' contract, which could go until 2027.
Been an incredible story for him, returning this season after two ACL injuries pretty much back to back. No question we'd have sold him to a Championship side prior to his first ACL but...
