    Pre Season Friendlies Thread 19/20

Don't really see the issue with that, I think it's fairly common for pre-season. Villa had two sides at Shrewsbury the other night. Just take the money and run.

Billericay signing Wes Thomas by the looks of it. That can't the "massive" signing Tamplin was on about, surely?

Even a club as big as Portsmouth have been given a bog standard Sunday League templated Nike kit:

    2019/20 National League North

Started out with us as a youngster and showed a bit of promise as a nippy winger. Did the rounds on loan with the usual non-league sides around Lincolnshire, Gainsborough, Stamford etc. Released when Danny Cowley came in and was soon picked up by Notts County, but don't think he ever got a look...

    Stickied League 2 Transfer Rumours/Confirmed Transfers 2024/25

Pete O'Rourke linking Imps and Salford with a move for Mansfield defender Krystian Pearce. I call bullshit and I strongly suspect it's his agent touting his name around. Also suspect Mansfield would want a big fee even though he's approaching the final year of his contract. Plus our priority is...

Pompey. Yours looks pretty basic and the sponsor isn't a great fit, but it's still not as bad as Portsmouth's.

The Bury summer signing uberthread. WARNING - Contains tinpot material

So they don't go bust? And yeah, as above. Don't really see what the grounds for appeal are, EFL rule on insolvency is pretty cut and dry.

The Bury summer signing uberthread. WARNING - Contains tinpot material

It's obviously not looking good now but is there an argument to make Bury will come out of this sorry saga in a better position than they started it? Chances are they'll end up back in L2 but they should - emphasis on should - be financially prudent and should finally stop dishing out salaries...

    Stickied League 2 Transfer Rumours/Confirmed Transfers 2024/25

That's kinda my point though. I'd sign Cherno Samba (or in this instance, Danny Mayor) but I wouldn't bring four or five of his former teammates with him. I'd then set up a broad scouting network that wasn't just reliant on stealing players from one club, cos' sooner or later than supply will...

I get why he's doing it, go with what you know and all that, but I still think it's lazy. Sign one or two, fine, but I just think it's getting a bit silly now. The players he learned to trust at Bury were once outsiders as well, it's an inherent part of a manager's job to take risks on new...

Seeing as Bury weren't great defensively, it would be a bit weird if my first thought was Will Aimson. Plus I've seen him, he's pretty average.

Other than Mayor, did the other three really play a significant role? When I think of their side last season the first players that come to mind are Mayor, Maynard, O'Shea, Adams and Rossiter.
