You can sign free agents at any point, so Bolton will be fine. They won't be liquidated, as I said at the time that statement from the administrator was just a scare tactic.
I don't really get the dislike of the League Cup. You can win a game and then be handed a plum tie against an Everton, a Newcastle, a West Ham etc. Or win two and get a United, Liverpool, Arsenal etc. It's easy money.
EFL Trophy is obviously a waste of time, I can say that now we've won it.
Had to be done, but it never should have got this far in the first place. EFL are an absolute shambles. They've had more than enough warnings and yet they've done absolutely nothing about it. They have some nerve talking about the "integrity" of the league and complaining about having this...
Vanni , what have all these people/groups all got in common?
- Owen Oyston, convicted rapist and proven asset stripper in the High Court
- Ken Anderson, businessman previously disqualified from being a company director for eight years after eight of his businesses went bust
- Steve Dale, a...
So the FA/EFL share no blame for allowing a businessman who has liquidated 43 of his 51 businesses to take over Bury? Give over. If the EFL had correctly applied their owners' and directors' test Dale wouldn't have been allowed to take over. They admitted themselves they had fucked up just to...
While I agree with every word of that, where are the FA in all of this? Surely it makes sense to have a test that applies to all of English football, not just leave it to the various leagues to sort themselves. Otherwise it's inevitable you'll have differences in how the National League apply...
We don't, very odd!
Obviously this survey is restricted to league clubs but I'd say our top five is:
1. Grimsby
2. Mansfield
3. Scunny
4. Boston
5. Peterborough
Closely followed by Hull and Notts. In fact I'd have Hull quite up a decade or so ago, whereas Mansfield would have been fairly low...
Teams who qualify for the Europa League always seem to get their recruitment wrong the following pre-season, which I always find quite odd.
You shouldn't need to make wholesale changes to play Sunday-Thursday-Sunday, and neither should you want to given the squad you've already got has done so...
Indeed. Similar to the Bolton situation in some respects, in that Harvey was happy for Bassini to take over to get rid of the mess Ken Anderson had created, conveniently forgetting that Bassini had previously been banned for 8 years...
They could have banned Steve Dale from taking over the club though, which they would have been in their rights to do seeing as 43 of his 51 previous companies have been liquidated.
That might have helped...
This. Talk today that 4 parties are interested in buying the club and Debbie Jevans has said extra time could be granted if they show they're credible. Problem is Steve Dale will probably ignore them all.
As bad as Norman Smurthwaite is, I don't think he's done anything to warrant being banned...
I think the issue with Devitt is that if you're going to get the best out of him then you have to build a team around him in the number 10 role. But that's never going to happen with a side going for promotion in L1. He's good, but he's not that good.
Steven Pressley said as much recently.
