How do you know Brackley have released a lot of players? I'm not disputing it, I just learn so little about player movements from our own website, that if you've a better source I'd be grateful to have a look at it too.
Promoting the top two is also pretty ridiculous. King's Lynn were falling to pieces before the end of the season and 2nd place earns you a playoff place - nothing more. I could live with a playoff between King's Lynn and York if there were 1 promotion spot, but out of order to simply promote...
Erm... 2nd place wins you only a playoff spot - not promotion.
And how do you sort out who would have come top - King's Lynn based on PPG, but look at their form.
I could say that Brackley are likely to have come 3rd this season - the 3rd season in a row we'd be in that position...
Clearly everyone's preferred option is to finish the season - provided it can be done without clubs going to the wall. Can't see much happening before June - but a June - July finish might be possible?
Perhaps there needs to be some creativity applied to a shortened 20-21 season. Starting...
I thought I'd come up with this idea myself in bed last night! Clearly not as original idea as I'd thought. Anyway, I like it... or perhaps carrying forward half the points as a 'bonus,' sort of like they used to do (still do?) with the split league format in Switzerland.
To make there...
I love Ndlovu myself - but he's not a goal scorer. You need his hold up play with an out and out goal scorer next to him. We arguably have the defence and midfield to be very competitive, but not as a unit going forward & I'm unconvinced by the GK.
A couple more wobbles by King's Lynn will...
"Boston, Alty and York would be tough to beat" ... not Brackley then?
To be honest I think our chances of going up are about 2% this year. We don't score enough (despite the GF artificially hiked by a few big results). Seen us fail in the previous 5 playoffs, so a 6th will be fully expected...
Why? You're surely safe this season - can't see Blyth catching you even if you don't get another point all season. All about filtering the squad for next season...
No you're right I couldn't. Spent the day with the wife & kids instead, and doing a bit of work. Also missed some August games taking daughter one backpacking around India and am missing some Easter games taking daughter two to New York. I need to sort my priorities out.
I do make this point repeatedly - we're the smallest town in either Conf N or S, even Alfreton is twice our size. Darlington is 10x bigger, Chester 8x etc. Based on this, I think reasonable logic, if we get 400 for the Tuesday night match, Darlington should get 4000, Chester 3200, perhaps more...
In some of the away games I've been to I have found it politic to not announce my support of Brackley very loudly, being outnumbered as I am. I see some familiar faces around who I think are in the same boat. So I don't think you can prove zero fans - but I'll accept there's really not a lot.
Pitches don't tend to help this time of the year either - if you are a passing team (like Brackley) and the pitch & conditions mean you end up going more route one, then being big and physical (like Kettering or Guiseley) pays off.
