If you set up like Micky Mellon and ping balls into his chest, he's absolutely useless. He's also not the most streetwise of footballers and lacks the sense of where and when to make a run, giving away a ridiculous amount of stupid free kicks in the process. Good finisher though, I don't think...
Crewe have bravely paid us money for Elliott Nevitt. So that's four players out and none in thus far for a squad already very short of attacking options. I gather the plan until May is to not play a striker, draw every game nil nil and then hire a new manager and sign a new squad?
Whilst a one on one, the shot was straight at him, he was down in time to stop it and somehow lets it through his body. The angle from behind the goal would show it clearly. Nice passing move for the goal, calling it a gift admittedly doesn't take that into account, but Doohan should have done...
Ross "What's He" Doohan had a game to forget, gifting Sutton two goals. Especially the second, which is a guaranteed 99/100 save for an eleven year old. He failed to gift them the winner in stoppage time after flapping at a cross, only thanks to it being cleared off the line. The more I watch us...
We absolutely battered Crewe, but couldn't stick the ball in the net. 22 shots for a team as poor going forward with us constitutes an absolute mauling, but fair play to Crewe - we missed chance after chance and they hung on in there and scored a great goal. Agree with Boz that our second half...
Crewe messed up the pay on the day, so the away end was well above capacity. I like the way they've announced a figure two below the official capacity of the Ice Cream Van Stand in a not very subtle attempt to cover themselves(!)
(Insert obligatory rant about Barrow having the worst away end in the entire English footballing pyramid here).
Seriously though, sort it out. Either that or sell every ticket for the away end as "restricted view" until you can be bothered doing something about it.
Donny were terrible. Their game plan involved repeatedly passing the ball between keeper and centre half to waste as much time as possible, and that was about it. We were marginally better; it didn't feel like a three nil game in honesty, more like a scrap between two teams without an ounce of...
Would be astonished if it's not called off, it hasn't been above freezing all week, it's currently minus four outside and... we can't score goals, so playing it next year would make sense. Added excuse of Crawley travelling a long way and the surrounding areas will be icy etc.
Went through every kind of weather imaginable from snow, sleet and fog before Leeds... then the east half of the trip bathed in bright sunshine and no snow in sight! The way back, more of the same. Good ol' Penines, eh...
We're shite and we're crying out for both new management and personnel...
Agree with all of that. An improved showing from us, Kane Hemmings had his best game leading the line in about nine months and Morris had a great game. Shame we couldn't take one of the many chances that came our way, but a good game for a nil-nil and a good away point.
Not doubting we have a good side for this level - this team would turn over most sides we put out in league one during the last few years of Peter Johnson's tenure. The mentality of being so negative, especially away from home, certainly needs addressing though. Having said that, we did alright...
Orient Tranmere was largely irrelevant, the updates from Bristol were far more entertaining. Congrats to the Gas, commiserations to Northampton and any Scunthorpe fan who made it through that game deserves a medal.
For what it's worth, Orient offered little and squandered whatever they did...
Not only relying on Swindon and Sutton both to lose (Swindon only having the best away record in league and all that), but we've won four away all season, none since January and last time out made Stevenage look like world beaters.
Still, could be worse - last time I went to Orient, we were...
Bradford really didn't cover themselves in glory with that second half performance. Having said that, a lot better from us than in past weeks. Glatzel in particular had a great game and we actually looked threatening going forward for a change.
That was pretty embarrassing, we're just not learning. We move the ball fall too slowly and we've got nothing going forwards. Losing at home to one man and his dog will never grow old. My inner communist also resents losing to small teams from affluent areas, so a 1-0 defeat at home to Sutton...
