Southport 0-0 Brackley Nothing happened. No real chances of note for either side. No particularly bad tackles. Even the referee was ok. It was dull, and the only good thing is it was our first clean sheet of the season. We are now 3 consecutive games without scoring, have won one league game...

Southport 0-1 Curzon Ashton A tight game as expected, but Curzon probably had the better chances and scored late on with an IBR goal from a tight angle that supposedly took a slight deflection. The main difference between the two sides was Curzon were able to stretch play, whereas we were very...

It could be an interesting game, as we like to try to control the ball too. Our main problems are making stupid defensive mistakes (usually from set-pieces, but the Darlington game showed we are becoming more creative in how we do it), and conceding with the first shot we face. It's frustrating...

This is why I like to see the viewpoints of opposition fans. I thought Darlington players were as guilty as manhandling as we were, the main difference being our players tries to stay on their feet and complain whereas your players would hit the floor (and in one case curl himself around the...

Darlington 3-0 Southport We were the better side in the first half but went behind against the run of play after failing to track a runner from midfield who slotted home. Second half we changed formation to a 442 and fell apart. Darlo's second goal was from yet another Renshaw clanger, this...

Anson was a difficult one to call. Great central defender who could play a bit too, but missed a lot of games through injuries, and was part of the overall piss-poor defence we've had over the last few seasons. Most fans were surprised when we released him, and even more surprised when he joined...

Awful first half for us today against Radcliffe, it was the footballing equivalent of urinating on your own shoes. Second half we actually played the ball forwards, got back into the game and could have won it at the end. What annoys me is we play 5 at the back and have the second worst...

Buxton would win the league if points were awarded for passes back to the goalkeeper and for retaining possession in your own half. We won 3-2, we had 4 shots they had 2. Ultimately we did more with the ball than they did. For a supposedly full-time outfit they looked a joke.

Utter dross from us today at Chorley. Conceded 4 goals all from set-pieces which we decided not to defend. When we did have the ball we were so slow with possession too. We've lost 3 on the bounce now and have conceded 10 goals when doing to. Any more of this an we're in trouble.

We had our pants pulled down by Hereford. We were just about holding on until 75 minutes, but once the got their second goal (a pretty much identical set piece as their first) we started making stupid mistakes and fell apart. They there generally stronger, faster and better organised than we...

Spennymoor were deserved winners against us last night. They were far better on the ball, and whilst not creating much in the first half they could have scored more in the second half. I don't think we even tested their goalkeeper. A bit of a let-down after two good results.

BigDave pretty much nails it regarding Needham Market. They're only real attacking threat was their number 7 (Ingham?). They will fight for everything, but are quite predictable going forwards.

There were around 50 Southport fans there, and around 50 of their fans wearing Ipswich Town merchandise. Unsurprisingly their clubhouse was very busy before the match!

Needham Market 1-2 Southport We started brightly, NM then dragged us into a physical midfield battle that they managed to get on top of. They scored from a free kick that our keeper should probably have saved. Second half we got back into it with a switch in formation, and capitalised on a...

Off to Needham Market for us. If we play like the first 70 minutes against Alfreton we will win, if we play like the last 20 minutes it might be a closer game.

Most tinpot thing I ever heard. (tinpot thread)

We will not have our new home or away kit for the start of the season tomorrow. Instead we will be playing in our completely unnecessary third kit. This is what happens when get kits from Patrick. I believe Gainsborough Trinity are having the same problem...

Southport: Realistically aiming to be in or around the play-offs. Summer recruitment appears to have gone well. Jordan Keane, Sam Minihan and Nathaniel Knight-Phillips bring a lot of experience to our previously naive back line. In midfield Callum Spooner brings physicality, Sonny Hilton brings...

We have rounded off our unbeaten pre-season with a 2-1 win against FCUM, which had a touching tribute to the 3 young girls who were murdered this week a short distance away from the ground. £5000 was raised for Alder Hey too. We have also turned over both PNE and Oldham Athletic, drew at...
