    The 3 promoted teams

I said unironically that Cashin would probably follow in Clarke’s footsteps - then we signed Clarke. Very similar defenders, Cashin on the smaller side but has a unique ability to leverage his body to win the majority of battles in the air. A good footballer too, very good ability on the ball...

    The 3 promoted teams

Matthew Clarke signs a three year deal, albeit expected, I’m still bemused how we have been able to get him for roughly £250k. One of the most consistent defenders at this level and always seems to score very highly in almost every defensive metric. The back three ended the season in fantastic...

    The 3 promoted teams

We've got a complete rebuild this summer so it will depend heavily on who/how we recruit. I suspect this summer is one where we kick on in terms of investment in the squad, I don't see Eustace coming in if there wasn't assurances, but the scale of the job can't be underestimated.

Drew a game we needed to win & less said about the game the better. Rowett knew what he needed to do and what we lacked so I don't think I can be too surprised. We simply don't have enough creativity in the team which is hard to mitigate. Nevertheless, we have found an absolute gem in Sondre...

    Managerial Merry-Go-Round 2022/23

Looks as though Eustace is done although Matt Hamshaw will be in charge of the team for the Oxford game tomorrow night. I expect an announcement tonight or tomorrow - interested to hear who will make up his backroom staff. Big game tomorrow, a win on the back of Eustace joining could really...

    The 3 promoted teams

We’ve added well, but couldve done with more. We had a deal for John Swift and some La Liga striker fall through on the last day which is annoying. We paid a Norwegian record fee for Langas (£4m) who physically looks imposing and looked the part on his debut. Clarke from Middlesbrough is an...

    Managerial Merry-Go-Round 2022/23

Looks like we’re close to appointing Eustace. Although I was never anti-Warne, I can’t lie that I never thought a manager like him would’ve been possible. He’s an excellent choice for us as a club for both the short and long-term. We have 11 of the bottom 13 teams to play in our last 15. He...

    The 3 promoted teams

It's been a bit of a perfect storm for us, unfortunately. I don't think we are playing too badly, but every game feels like a re-run: being narrowly beaten by teams with more quality. We've lost 7 on the bounce, but almost all of them felt competitive, but we just didn't have enough in the game...

Glad we’ve managed a good result, if anything our play recently (bar Leeds) has been at its best so far this season but results not aligning which has been frustrating. A performance, result like this can hopefully kick us on. No relegation drama is all I wish.

    Managerial Merry-Go-Round 2022/23

In terms of the year before: Rowett had a defensively solid side with the league's top goalscorer in Matej Vydra. It was also the most expensive side we have ever had in our history - £50m+ in intangible assets, £40m+ on the wage bill. Rowett left as Mel wanted to cut the playing budget down...

    Managerial Merry-Go-Round 2022/23

We've learned a lot since Lampard was at Derby but he did do well - obviously you look at the players in the squad now and say we should've got promoted, but it wasn't the case. Harry Wilson - excellent end product, poor general play. He was the definition of a luxury player. Mount - was...

He's been unbelievable for us. He's not the best technical footballer, but his ability to get around the pitch and just get involved in games is like nothing I've ever seen before - especially in a team that doesn't play heavy-possession football. I think he's got a case for being our best...

    2024-25 Championship Match Day Thread

Frustrating game for us, but really pleasing to see us comprehensively dominate another Championship team. Most of the games we've played in this season has been competitive, but nothing more. This felt a lot more like us swamping another team but just wouldn't fall right. Lots of blocks and...

    2024-25 Championship Match Day Thread

We've got Hull at home, no idea what to expect from them in all honesty. They had a really strong three game run, but have been largely poor for the most part. They do have some quality so capable of being dangerous on their day - just hope that Saturday isn't one of them. I'd imagine it will...

Comfortable win vs QPR on Saturday. We’ve won four of our five home games to nil which is fairly impressive and three of the wins have been very comfortable: Bristol, Cardiff and QPR. In terms of percentage of being in a leading possession in games through the first nine, we have been seventh...

No surprise from our game against Sunderland, ultimately kept at arms length for the majority of the game. We did give a good account of ourselves, it’s a tough place to go so to have been leading in most metrics: shots, shots on target, etc is something we can take some pride in. They just had...

Sunderland away tomorrow - we've lost all three away games, they've won all three home games. Anything can happen, but the smart money is on a defeat. I'd be delighted with a point, but expectation levels aren't high.

Always frustrating to concede a goal in a match that shouldn’t have stood, but twice? Really frustrating in a game that we absolutely deserved at least a point. Chalk it up to it not being our day and move on. We were fortunate to beat Boro earlier in the season, but unfortunate today. It’s the...

Stickied Transfer Rumours & Confirmed Deals Thread 2024/25

Following the game against Sheff Utd on Saturday, apparently Harrison Burrows mentioned that we (Derby) bid £2m for him and he was interested in the move, but then Sheff Utd came in. Shame for us - but glad to know we did show some ambition to bring in a left back (albeit Elder has been...

Yeah, completely agree - in real speed you just see him move his arm towards the direction of the ball whilst when slowed down it shows that it's hit the 'permitted' area of his shoulder (although that's a grey area in itself) I'd say in real time that is one that is given 8 out of 10 times, if...
