We did got to a back 4 and we were still shit. My comments above are true for a 4-3-3 formation as well.
The problems run much deeper than formations do. I've tried to come up with what my ideal starting line up today would be and whatever I choose, it still looks shit. That tells me how...
I don't think our problems were ever with the formation or 4 at the back. Defensively we are a mess with players constantly pushing too high up the pitch. Regardless of the formation.
Still with a better midfield, these problems wouldn't be quite so obivious.
Apparently Wenger wants Wilshere...
The most frustrating thing about Welbeck right now, is that there are better players on the bench!
Walcott and Giroud are better goal scorers, while Iwobi is more creative.
Yet we're stuck playing Welbz because he runs around a lot???
He really should have. We are at a point where the midfield in particular is so bad that we're going to struggle regardless. But we need someone to get some discipline into the team defensively.
EDIT: Calling Wenger a fraud though is utterly idiotic, he's achieved so much, but football has...
This game is going EXACTLY as I expected, right down to the opening goal being due to a Xhaka miss placed pass.
It's fucking criminal that with all the money in football, that we have started the season with this squad and in particular this set of midfielders.
I long for the days of Diaby...
At a guess it's because all of our squad players are on silly wages and the only way to shift them is to sell at low prices.
We have a bloated and shit squad right about now.
I'm not a fan of Welbeck, but a few Arsenal fans wanted to use this window to get rid of Walcott instead.
19 goals Theo got last season from the wide forward role. I just can't see Welbeck brand of falling over in good positions ever getting that type of tally.
I don't want to scapegoat a player, because we had more than enough chances to the win that game.
But am I utterly fed up with the sight of Xhaka and we're only two games into this season. This was another game where he was the best playmaker for the opposition.
Too easy for Man Utd, the West Ham midfield is all energy but no quality.
Pogba looks a lot more comfortable, no longer trying to be the hollywood player to try and justify the price tag. Maybe football going mega bonkers with transfer fees has helped him?
The same could have been said of Spurs. Which will make it all the more frustrating for Newcastle.
Shelvey won't learn, I think they're better off getting rid.
