Dan Micciche - New MK Dons manager

That’s actually quite funny because it’s probably accurate Before any Wombles fan accuses me of jealousy I admit that at first I admired Wimbledons amazing rise. Don’t think we’ll see a non league club rise to finish 6th in the PL ever. But eventually I admit to thinking “how come they’ve...

Dan Micciche - New MK Dons manager

Can understand the sentiment with MKD. I have friends that moved from Sheffield to MK 15 years ago. Get the impression it’s taking longer than Winkleman expected to develope a decent supporter base. Agree with Sabin too, it’s what makes the football outside the US special. The US model is...

Dan Micciche - New MK Dons manager

Know what you mean but that’s just a romantic English traditional view. In the US they’d not understand what you’re talking about. They tend to take franchises off clubs with falling attendances and little to offer and only agree to clubs with something to offer commercially. They believe in...

Dan Micciche - New MK Dons manager

Feel a bit sorry for Winkleman. He saw MKD as a fantastic business opportunity to start a new league club in a part of the country with a large wealthy population but no league club. He’s built a fantastic stadium and ran loads of cheap ticket promotions to encourage the locals to support their...

Brown officially gone - Chris Powell Appointed

Agree, it’s all about timing and at this point it would take something more attractive for him to leave Lincoln. If and when he thinks he’s taken Lincoln as far as he can then he’ll look at other options. In the circumstance (Southend being just off the relegation zone) Chris Powell is a decent...

Who Gets Relegated Alongside Ipswich Thread 18/19

I was initially impressed with Adkins because he speaks so well during his interview and it’s refreshing that he’s so upbeat focussing on positives. However after losing he’d ignore negatives and again focus on positives. Gradually this style of post match interview really wound up our fans...

    Norwich v blades

Would normally predict a draw. However Norwich do have a good record against us. This time though I agree with Southey, surely you would expect Norwich to be tired after playing a tough game Wednesday night. And losing on penalties after extra time can’t be good for their morale. We should be...

Stickied Championship - Away Support Thread 2024/25

When I was a kid I was always told Birmingham has THREE clubs. Always thought it weird that WBA main rivals always seemed to be Wolves instead of Villa and Small Heath, like you’d expect. Is there much of a rivalry for Villa fans with WBA, or is it solely Birmingham City?

Stickied Championship - Away Support Thread 2024/25

And you actually believe that urban myth? It’s a wind up, an in joke that we always tell Wednesday fans. Next you’ll be saying that everyone buys kids season tickets to get in cheap. Wednesday fans just find it hard to accept that the Blades have higher gates this season. I’ve heard Wednesday...

    Sheffield United v sheffield wednesday

Worse I’ve seen us play for about 18 months. Also we’ve been entertaining but that was poor. However you have to give credit to Wednesday. They did a job on us, defended really well, closing us down and we struggled to create anything clear cut. At least a draw was a fair result, so no complaints.

    Sheffield United v sheffield wednesday

I was judging it on the 30,600 against Sunderland on Boxing Day, with the additional poor and restricted view seats sold. So assumed it would be another few hundred taking it over 31K. Also on Talksport this afternoon they said it was a 31,000 sell out. Madness if it’s less than the Sunderland...

    Sheffield United v sheffield wednesday

All the restricted views (even the seats where you can only see half the pitch, so it’s almost a no view) have been sold last week. I think the official crowd will just about creep over 31,000 in a stadium with 32,700 seats. The first 2 rows of the away end bottom tier and the first 3 rows of...

Not saying they are expecting trouble but the SY Police will be armed with automatic weapons tonight with snipers positioned on roof tops around Bramall Lane. What next?..... By the way I made the sniper bit up.....but they are being armed with guns according to the tweet by the local newspaper...

    Sheffield United v sheffield wednesday

Agree, you can never legislate for a result, sometimes things go right or go wrong with the luck factor/ dodgy ref decisions. For me the big issue is giving 100%, puttting in a performance, at least showing plenty of positives. And regards this I’m 100% confident United will turn up, play well...

    Sheffield United v sheffield wednesday

Wednesdayite are running coaches from Sheffield picking up at the SW football ground. Then travelling 2.5 mile down the road. It’s says a police escort is provided there and back and a security barrier is provided at the away end. Also says on their web site the plan is for all the coaches to...

    Sky games

Having the most viewers doesn’t necessarily equate to having the most fans. Going on them viewing figures Leeds would have twice and 3 times the support of the other big clubs in the league, which is clearly not the case. I was going to say high viewing figures relates to being the most...

Which club do you like the most in this league apart from your own??

Clubs like Blackburn and Bolton haven’t been “big clubs” for decades However the reason both fans have high opinions of theirselves is that both clubs DO have an impressive big club history/ tradition. To be fair to Bolton and Blackburn history/ tradition. and longevity is significant, that’s...

Which club do you like the most in this league apart from your own??

The only clubs in league 1 I quite like are Rotherham United- met a few fans and they are down to earth and none threatening to us Sheffielders, local side that I like to see do well. Plymouth Argyle- have family in Plymouth, big potential, very isolated, great away support. Biggest club that’s...

    Promotion Thread 2017/18

To be fair I don’t think Manchester City are capable of playing a tight defensive game. It’s either all out attack or when they want to conserve energy it’s patient possession controlling the game. The Kyle Walker signing sums up Pep. Walker isn’t a great defender but his style offers...
