Dawson and Daniels leaving was a blow, but they didn't want to stay when Bury and Brentford came looking. Our second goalie, Joe Anyon played a fair number of games and was an able back-up. In fact some thought him to be better than Daniels. Anyon joined Chesterfield. Wiseman was another...
We have a couple of Dutch players in our squad, but have been over in Austria at training camp. We went last year too. By all accounts it is excellent. A couple of games versus Austrian 3rd Division sides each resulted in 6-0 victories for us, which while not of great significance will give a...
It looks a stronger league than last year and I expect it to be extremely competitive throughout. I expect Blackburn to win it, as I think they look a standout team for this level. There will plenty of challengers for the top 6. I do not think it will be easy for the promoted sides, including...
Fair enough. Let's see how he copes this coming season. He'll be expected to take you straight back up and he ought to as well. Your quality should be enough for an automatic place.
While your hopeful attendance is a tad optimistic :err:, I would speculate more likely to be 3,000+. It's summer holidays, it's a long way from London and some fans will need to be convinced first.
Good luck with him, except on the opening day! I was hoping that we might sign him after a couple of trial matches. Something wasn't quite right for us though.
At least we didn't lose each time :2thumb:
I thought you were one of the best sides we played last season. Very surprised that you were not with us in the top 6. Did you raise your game(s) against us or were you totally inconsistent during the season? I think you'll seriously challenge this...
The question is not about history, so I will look to the season ahead. Thus, I am looking at who is the biggest threat to take 6 points off Scunny? That's all that matters to me. Points.
There is nearly always a threat from at least one side coming down and I have to say Wigan this time, who...
Pre-season often brings excitement and anticipation. Sometimes over-excitement. You signed Craig Davies. That should counterbalance the optimism you are experiencing.
Yeah, he is very clever on the ball between the midfield and the strikers. I prefer to see him more central, but we have tended to play him wide left. Here's hoping he can get and stay fit this season. A fit Williams, with restored confidence can only be good for Scunny.
Scunny had Alex Calvo-Garcia from Spain playing many moons ago. He thought he was a centre forward, but became a tremendous midfielder. Tough tackling and moved the ball well. It's possible to adapt as Alex proved, but I take the point that in general the transition is hard. Most noticeably...
This was the rumour that I mentioned in an earlier post. He is a Dutch based (Willem II) Belgian. Kevin Van Veen will have had a part to play in this. That's one CM, now we need another with Crooks going to Northampton.
Thanks for the update guys. Crooks should turn out to be pretty decent for you. I would have liked to have seen him at Scunny. Liam Totter did not travel to our training camp in Austria. Bit of a rumour is that we are interested in another CM and he may join in with the team in Austria...
