Started much the same as we did in the abandoned match - on top and creating chances. But a horrible mistake gifts Bolton the lead and we've looked miles away since. Oh well.
I know age plays a huge part in transfer fees but I still can't believe we've got 150k more for Will Goodwin (6 goals in 28 games) than we did for May (43 goals in 85 games).
Thought Carlisle were decent tonight, far better than when we played you a few weeks ago. Just hoping those goals have knocked the stuffing out of you and we can take advantage this weekend.
We've got ourselves a fantastic manager but there's been a lot of frustration with the board which will only grow if they don't handle this correctly. And DC doesn't strike me as the type to stick around if he doesn't get the backing he needs (and rightly so).
They'll probably let him go for even less than May which, given Goodwin's age and form this season, would be another brainless decision. But our board aren't interested in us staying in League 1 so that's what will happen. Hope he does well for you with May.
Emergency in the stands at Bolton. It's been over half an hour and no word yet but have to assume they won't carry on. Hope everything is alright with the fan.
Pompey by far the best side we've played for quite some time, excellent passing and movement, distributing the ball quickly and making us work. That said, they haven't created many clear chances so hopefully we can keep it that way. Thought they should've had a stonewall penalty on first viewing...
This is the key thing - don't think we've been outplayed in any league game since DC came in. We were ok yesterday and could have nicked a point, but as usual our home form will decide things. I'm more confident of getting something at home to Pompey than yesterday's game. And now that I've said...
After a fairly even and scrappy first half, that second half was as comfortable as I've seen for a long time. Shrews offered absolutely nothing and couldn't have complained if it ended 3 or 4-0. The resurgence continues.
Well Carlisle were...not very good. Should have been more comfortable in the end but a win is a win and now only 3 points off safety. I'm convinced there are 4 worse teams than us in this league
Have to say you look really poor. Thought you started alright actually but since we scored you've been all over the place. We've got to see this one out
Pretty much agree with all this. I think the red was harsh - if you look at the two challenges in isolation and ask the question, should he be sent off for these? - I think most would say no. But he gave the ref a decision to make with the 2nd and that's that.
At least this loss feels like it...
Proper smash and grab wasn't it. We just ran out of steam last 10 minutes and you could see the goals coming. We're a better side now than our league position suggests but still plenty of catching up to do and today doesn't help.
