Colin Calderwood is supposedly off to Swansea. In context of our league-best defensive record, that will be a loss for us, but would be interesting to see if it allows us to evolve the style of play a bit, he was always a fan of percentage football.
Well, all over. Would probably prefer that to losing at Wembley itself. At least all of those Strikers bar Aperre will be packing their bags come Sunday.
Good luck to all left to play at Wembley.
The hoskins one from the penalty shout maybe. But, we've won zero games when conceding first this year, don't have the system/squad or whatever to deal with teams who sit back.
Think thats it then. Need to face up to losing Horsfall, Roberts and McWlliams, and Eppiah back to his parent club and work out how to recruit some quality that can break people down. We wanted to sign Jacobs if we'd gone up, so know we're looking at the right type of player for that at least...
We've struggled to break down teams who have something to defend all year, which is why we didnt go up automatically and have such a poor record after going behind first. Short posession game isnt good enough to break down teams sitting deep, and if we leave at this stage its probably only fair...
I think the free kick was almost certainly a pen, but then again I'm not convinced Guthrie really won that foul at the end when Oates was almost free 1-on-1, so swings and roundabouts.
Port Vale I saw first game of the season, and I thought they gave us a good game even with 10 men for 45...
Going to be interesting to see how we set up on Wednesday, as Oates looks like he'd enjoy hitting us on the break a lot. Might struggle to make inroads at set pieces as well, O'Toole and Hawkins very good aerially today.
I think the first 11 is good enough for anyone in this league, but the...
Yeah, great ball in.. one of those that VAR would have caught, but too close to be upset by. I'd take 1-0 to Sixfields I think with Mansfields away form.
Based on all the promoted teams getting their managers pinched, much like Wilder in 2015 for us, maybe there's an upsize to not winning your playoff game. Providing you like your manager of course.
So when we played Mansfield, we'd been on a run of scoring 5 in 5 games, and we're heading into the playoffs with 13 in 5 games, so theres likely to be a less blunt attack. Main issue is that we have one attack partnership in Eppiah and Appere that work, and create chances. Everyone other than...
