Insane game at the Abbey. We made such a meal of it but finally got over the line. Burton's danger was from corners and long throws and we just kept giving them opportunities to sling the ball in our box.
Awful half against Burton, haven't defended their crosses at all well and have been so slow stretching them side to side. Will be an awful result unless we up the tempo and pull them around more.
Awful half from us. Should've had a couple early on and have looked like the only side playing in the heat since then. Need to improve or Exeter will see out a 1-0 easily
Surprisingly not too disappointed with the late loss at Oxford - we played very well against a good side and there were clear signs of progression. Definitely deserved a draw but Goodrham punished us for probably the only sloppy bit of defending in the game.
Oxford are such a potent attacking...
Do Wycombe need many players though? I've prob not been paying attention but I hadn't noticed many key players leave except Stockdale? My assumption was you had a fairly settled and decent squad?
It feels like there have been less loans than last year so far and I suspect more business will be...
Know your place Grecian.
Too BIG for Lg1:
Sheff Weds, Ipswich, Derby, Pompey, Bolton, Charlton
Tinpot non-league upstarts:
Morecambe, Fleetwood, Accrington, Burton, Cheltenham, Forest Green
Traditional league 1/2 cloggers:
The rest.
We (Cambridge) started last season with Taylor and Jones as our first choice CB pairing. Taylor was out for almost the whole season injured and Jones about half the season. We patched up best we could but used a couple of young loanees alongside our own youngster Okedina. Didn't work so ended up...
Depends how much the selling club can afford to hold out for and how stroppy the player would get if denied a decent payday.
Possibly both count against us here!
FWIW I think we'll be grateful for the cash and accept whatever we're offered. Others in the league would play hardball, I'm not...
It seems lazy to predict that the bigger clubs will finish near the top but I suspect most of them will next year.
Wednesday finished last season strongly and have the core of a decent squad in place. Ipswich have some great players and will invest heavily again. Bolton have got their shit...
That first meeting with FGR seems so far away now. It was only 2005 (at least I don't think we played them competitively before that?) but it was our first match in the Conference, played out in front of 550 Cambridge fans and 551 FGR supporters.
We lost 1-0 to a Scott Rendell goal and our...
Oxford have players on up to £7k a week? Madness. They don't even have the 'excuse' of being relegated from the Championship recently.
At Cambridge I'd be surprised if we have anyone above c.£2k a week.
Do you really expect Boateng to leave DippyDon ? I saw he played in at least one of the play off games for you?
Cambridge fans would have him back in a shot. I would at least, he'd provide the control and passing range we've missed this season. I suspect his wages could be an issue for us.
Iredale is very versatile, quick and can beat a man - can play CB, LB, LWB, LW and at a pinch CM. Has performed well in all positions for us. From what I've seen he's probably a better LWB than John.
