Craig Tanner has left us to join Ebbsfleet.
Shocked by this, been unlucky with injuries over the last few years (including a very bad one with Motherwell a few years back) but in terms of quality, he’s easily good enough for the Football League.
Speaks volumes about us as a club right now that...
Pretty much what jacobncfc said. Was hopeless when he was with us, came with a big reputation as Huddersfield u23 captain, but never really got going and was a big disappointment (although our team that season was shambolic so probably didn’t help).
Could be a good player at NLS level.
Was a cult hero when he was here. The fans loved him, technically he’s very limited but he’s solid in the tackle and will give his all every game. Good signing for NLS level.
Ah there’s a name I haven’t heard in a while. Our fans seemed to love him when he was with us a couple of years back before we sold him to Dagenham, but he’s never really kicked on in his career despite always looking like a half decent player.
Josh Rees for me, brilliant signing and wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the FL next season.
Most improved has to be Joel Nouble, couldn’t get in the team at the start of the season but by the end he’s far and away our best attacker, don’t think I’ve ever seen a player at this level beat...
Huge game for us Saturday. Win could see us move up to 14th, however it won’t be easy as Kings Lynn will be looking to avoid a 22nd place finish. Massive.
A few weeks ago, Searle said that we could have a huge influence on the top of the table come the end of the season, with Torquay, Sutton, Hartlepool, Eastleigh and Bromley still to play. So far, we’ve played 4 of those and lost all 4. Expecting Bromley to be similar to Eastleigh, and think...
First signing announced for us tonight... manager Danny Searle signed a 2 year deal. Not sure how I feel about that, seems like a genuinely nice bloke who cares about the club, but hasn’t shown enough in his last 2 years to make me think we’re going to make progression. Another 2 years of...
Think it’ll be around the 800 mark. Not the most glamorous of opposition, nothing to play for, a general sense of apathy at the club, and 2 home games in 4 days - I think Saturday’s crowd might be a bit higher.
Got a funny feeling we’ll win tonight and put an end to Eastleigh’s play off hopes. Hopefully having a crowd in will help us, as it did when we beat Dagenham back in December.
Congrats to Sutton, pretty much sealed it now. Will be a shame to lose a fellow South Eastern brother and a local-ish game but they’ve been the best team over the course of the season, and always nice to see an ex-Shot doing well, Matt Gray always got an unnecessary amount of stick whilst here...
Agreed, sums up our season really, just not quite good enough to compete with the top teams. Don’t think I’ve ever been less enthusiastic about a season, feels like since our defeat to Hereford we’ve just been going through the motions and cruising to the end of the season. Can’t wait for it to...
No idea who we’ve actually got signed on for next season, as far as I know we currently don’t have anyone. Difficult one as we’ve actually got the core of a decent side, we’ve just been horribly inconsistent which is why we’re now lower mid table.
Keep: Walker, Fowler, Kinsella, Tanner, Rees...
Welcome Southend. This league really isn’t as bad as you might fear - some decent, proper away days and some good away followings (there’s also some dreadful places like Borehamwood but you’ll find out about that in due course).
We were in a similar position to you when we came down, the club...
