Carrington is decent at right back, with Nortey and Edwards as cover. We don't need another right back. Jordan Evans would be nice addition. not only as left fullback cover, but he looks good going forward and has played midfield in the past. Actually that's exactly where I'd like to see him...
That might have been a factor yeah. One huge positive to take out of the game was that Kai Edwards managed to not get his leg broken. Gresford were definitely going for it.
Pack your bags Mills.
It wasn't great, but there were players playing in unusual positions that just didn't work and key men Rooney and Barry were subbed after about 25 minutes. We generally looked okay before that happened and I was impressed with the amount of talking going on between the...
Of course, three from when you were in the football league too I think. The best one of those four is Rooney though. Not much chance of him upping his game and scoring a wonder goal against us in the bubble derby when he's sat on our bench. A masterstroke from Mills that signing.
I do remember wanting Coughlin to stay to be our number two. Although I think that's possibly because he's a scouser and, for as long as I've watched Wrexham, we've done better with Liverpool accents in our team.
Mills making Sean Newton captain and bringing in Anthony Barry and John Rooney...
Andy Coughlin in a wrestling match
yeah yeah yeah yeah
yeah he's not great.
I reckon he could do a job for you at Barrow though. Perfectly capable of functioning as inadequate backup.
Strange about the coaching bit given his age, but when asked about looking forward to being Wrexham's number one, Jalal did mention that there would be competition for places throughout the squad and he wasn't taking anything for granted. Maybe, after realising that there isn't anyone from the...
Players can still improve significantly at any age with the right coaching. Big Dennis Lawrence was 25 when he came over from Trinidad to sign for Wrexham. An instant cult hero because he was 9 1/2 feet tall, but he was all over the place at the back when he started. Then Denis Smith improved...
Duzza can play football and score goals. Never quite got going at Wrexham, and apart from being their top score last season I'm not sure just how well he's done for Tamworth, but potentially could be a really good replacement for Rooney.
Heslop generally played very well and made a noticeable difference to our midfield when he first signed. I really wanted him to stay, but based on his his form before coming to Wrexham I'm not sure I would have offered him a two year deal. His form dipped for us at the end of the season too.
I doubt it. We've been to Wembley 3 times recently and the novelty has definitely worn off. Loads more would travel just up the road I reckon. And there's plenty of armchair Liverpool fans in North Wales and the Wirral who also take passing interest in their local team that would jump at the...
Obviously the fairest system would be promoting the top club in the attendance league.
Then 2nd down to 7th would all go straight to Wembley for an attendance off. Whoever brings the most fans gets promoted. They don't have to put on football matches between the clubs, that would take ages, so...
The playoffs are completely unfair now. A team can finish 5th, 15 or more points behind 2nd, and get promoted. It's already silly. Going to 7th spot is just extending the daftness a bit. League 2 already lets you finish 7th on less than 70 points and still get promoted.
The only fair way of...
With all these bankrolled hobby clubs and increased parachute payments winning the league is becoming a near impossibility for us, and getting in the playoffs isn't going to get any easier. This change would really suit Wrexham.
The playoffs are already a lottery and zero fun for fans. Getting...
A bloke wearing an Arsenal shirt in the middle of Ruabon told me we had signed Carlos Edwards today.
Also told me that Bruce Lee would easily beat Muhammad Ali in a fight and that Karl Connolly was good enough to have played in the Premiership. Both obviously true, so I have no reason to doubt...
I'm not sure, but someone could do a job there. I mean, Cameron Belford was like having an outfield player in goal and we were winning most games comfortably for the first third of last season.
Mills was asked about the types of players he was still looking to bring in. He mentioned a keeper...
Looked him up and Gary Neville has been ringing him up trying to get him to join Salford. Does that mean he's decent?
He's left footed, so this would be the replacement for Fyfield. And, if it is true, we'd have four centre backs, which suggest to me that Mills will be going into next season...
