FT: Charlton 3-1 Imps
That was a stinker and contender for worst game of the season.
Sort of sums up why we didn't get autos - fringe players are just not good enough and none of them staked a claim for a start.
Hope MA goes full strength on Sunday to end the season on a positive. Wouldn't...
As bad a decision as you're likely to see, ref had the perfect view and had the temerity to book players for protesting. It's either just awful refereeing or he's on the take - it was that bad and blatant.
Wasn't expecting that line-up but no real complaints to see McGrandles, Edun and Morton rested.
Bridcutt has a big job to do in midfield as I can't see Rogers tracking back and doing too much of the ugly stuff.
Well, we're in the final furlong of the season and I thought it would be a good opportunity to share the players who have stood out (nor not!) for your side this season.
For the Imps, it's really difficult to choose as luckily we've had a cracking season.
I'd go for Jorge Grant who I don't...
McCann getting it is a bit of a stretch!
Congrats to Jorge who has been fantastic, he's come on leaps and bounds and has been a pleasure to watch. Great to have tied him down to a longer deal earlier on in the season.
How long will Brennan be out for? Shame to lose him and wonder who will come in for him? Potentially a big opportunity for Harry to work his way back in the fold.
Having to witness the opposition celebrate promotion on consecutive Saturday's won't be a nice occasion if it happens, must also be...
Sorry to see Grimsby relegated and best of luck for next season. Hopefully the takeover goes through and you can start afresh. Get good people running the club both on board and CEO level, engage with the local community/fans and try and get some momentum. I really don't want to rub it in but...
Shrews 0 - 1 Imps
Fairly dominant display although Shrews have had two great chances with Vela hitting the post via a deflection and firing wide when he should be scoring.
Imps started well although didn't get that second goal which will be needed.
Johnson went off injured which is a worry...
Imps 1 - 2 Hull
Congrats Hull who are up following the 3 points.
Frustrating game, we had the majority of the play and the ball but just didn't have that little bit against an experienced, expensive and physical side.
Nice to get mins into Grant, Bridcutt and Hopper.
Fair play to Cambridge, seem to have done things quietly and under the radar. As we know there is a sizeable jump from L2 to L1 and it will be interesting to see if their style (not sure what their style is as I haven't seen them) and if they have the finance to push on.
HT: Burton 0 - 1 Imps
Played really well after taking 5 mins to get into the match. Retained possession well and attacked with intent. Whilst not testing their goalkeeper we've had a number of shots blocked by the home defence. As ever, when you're on top need to add more to the 1 goal.
1 change for us. LB Cohen Bramall is injured and replaced by James Jones which will see Edun drop back into the LB spot.
No Walsh and Jackson in CB which is a blow and Jones has been out of favour since catching Covid so a big game for him to stake a place in the team.
Jorge Grant returns to...
JFH has done a great job. Defence is a huge worry, players may have to play regardless of injury which isn't ideal. Will be a boost to have Grant travel although personally wouldn't play him. Will be a tight game but probably more importantly we just can't afford to pick up any more injuries.
FT: Gas 0 - 1 Imps
That was an inexperienced team and performance I thought. Really sloppy with the ball and invited pressure. Rovers had a real go, went direct and put bodies up there. Had opportunities to finish it but failed to convert. Rogers the most glaring, 90th minute him and Anderson...
