Looks like we might not be getting any strikers in - bit of a disappointing end to a great transfer window for us. Think it probably counts us out of a promotion challenge unless one of the players at the club can take the chance up front. We’ll be relying on a B team striker, and Watkins /...
No ones really sure, he’s passed his medical, but it’s fallen apart, best guess is agent fees or personal terms.
I’m hoping it’s not dead and can be turned around in time, but it sounds pretty dead.
I’m surprised at that - I wonder if it’s not us but another club. The main reason I say that is we have two other strikers who flew over yesterday for medicals, so it would be odd if we were still bidding on a third.
He’s under 23 so the one year contract doesn’t mean much, they’d still get something from tribunal.
I’d imagine Barrow makes up a fair amount of that £10m anyway.
Scott Sinclair left out of Celtic's CL squad for their next match - Lennon said it's because of interest from English clubs, would imagine it's someone in this league, saw a few clubs linked a week or so back?
Not saying losing Maupay isn’t a huge loss. I do think better squad depth will help us a lot (we’ve had to play most of the last two years with no proper left back).
Our big issue last year was poor defence, and we’ve invested heavily there to hopefully improve (Jansson a good example), we’ve...
Jansson should be a big upgrade on Konsa. Pinnock should be an upgrade on Barbet. Norgaard and Jensen are for sure upgrades on Macleod and McEachran.
Raya for Bentley is fairly equivalent. Sawyers will be a big miss. We don’t really look to have replaced him. Whoever we sign to replace Maupay...
If we had any striker in the team we’d have won...
It’s likely a lot of our signings will take time to bed in, we’ve replaced half of our first XI, wouldn’t be surprised if we have some pretty poor form early on.
In addition to Ghaddos, we’ll also have Johnson (19 year old LB from Arsenal, nominal fee) and Halil Dervisoglu (19 year old striker from Sparta Rotterdam, for £3m) joining, all subject to medicals
Brilliant window for us, the only real negative being losing Maupay - obviously a huge loss, but...
We’ve given up on Max Lowe, won’t meet Derby’s asking price (though that may change if we sell Henry), so are apparently signing Dominic Thompson, a youngster from Arsenal.
Sounds like we're waiting to see if West Ham meet Ajeti's asking price or not. At the moment they haven't, but if they do then any chance of a deal for us would likely be gone.
We've agreed a fee for Ghaddos, our 2nd choice, but are waiting on any movement on Ajeti before proceeding any...
You could only afford your current wage bill and 'stay' within FFP by selling your stadium - so you can't really afford it.
If 32Red are fronting most of his wages then that is a cracking deal for you, but can't see that they'd get enough return on investment for that money (over £4m per year)...
Don't coaches also count towards FFP? I thought it was only investment in infrastructure that didn't (so things like training ground improvements, stadium improvements, etc).
There are a few clubs in this league where it’s hard to understand where the money comes from. They’ll get found out eventually, and a lot of the tricks they are pulling at the moment (selling stadiums to the owners) only work once, they’ll run out of options at some point.
We may not see clubs...
Tavernier would be a great signing for most teams at this level, and the Kulenovic guy sounds good too (still haven’t given out hope that we’ll get him)
