£6 million up front rising to over £10 million with add-ons according to The Telegraph. The most commonly rumoured fees were £7.5 million or £12 million so sounds about right to me.
Doubles our record ever sale just for the up front fee even if none of the add-ons come in. I'd quietly confident...
Alan Nixon reckons we're in for Marc Bola from Blackpool. 21 year old left back so presumably a JJ replacement for when he departs for Leicester (surely the £12 million fee rumour is bullshit, maybe if all the add-ons come in but even Gary Sweet isn't that good at negotiating to get that much...
Our squad is built from the ground up with similar principles in mind, Nathan Jones is a big proponent of patient possession football drawing influence from the Spanish game and constructed our squad accordingly. We passed a lot of teams to death in L2 and L1 but it is a huge step up now of...
We're hoping that it will turn out more like Nathan Jones to Luton!
Of course it's a big gamble but given our resources we are going to have to gamble either on an unproven top coach or a lower league manager (or appoint a proven failure at the level who is out of a job of course). We just have...
Yeah Shinnie has been overlooked everywhere, probably because he didn't contribute directly (I.e. assist or goals) so people who don't watch us regularly wouldn't be as aware of him. The number of time he assisted the assist with a defence splitting pass to one of the wing backs though was...
Getting tickets for Luton away will be tricky for most clubs at this level, we only give a max allocation of just over 1,000 these days as the Oak Road is now split between home and away fans. Be good to see it full every week after our wilderness years that's for sure.
Yeah it definitely is, have to disagree with the other Luton fans in here. They may not be a "bigger" club in some ways but they are 5-6 years further down the line of a similar project to ours.
We haven't laid a brick in our new stadium yet - they move into theirs next season.
They can...
I think he'd be an excellent fit for the system Wolves play but yes, I imagine we'll be looking for quite a bit more than £4 million. I'd hope we were anyway.
He'd get plenty of game time at Villa to be fair looking at their full back options. He's way behind Leicester's first choices at left back and right back but he could certainly pick worse destinations, they don't have much depth in either position (Simpson and Fuchs will leave this summer) and...
I think/hope we've got a half decent chance at keeping JJ until January at least. Mainly because he is under contract for a few years yet and is a genuine Luton lad. I think we'll cash in on Stacey because he only has one year left and he's currently the better player anyway. If we can get a big...
It has in the crazy amount of money that is filtering down now but we were hugely punching above our weight last time we were here too.
Last time we were in the division the clubs included Sunderland, Birmingham, Derby, West Brom, Wolves, Southampton, Preston, Stoke, Sheff Weds, Palace...
Rea won't be fit for the start of the season apparently and that's just fit to play, never mind match fit. He only just ran on grass for the first time earlier this week I believe. Unfortunate as he had really come into his own prior to the injury and was making that role his own.
Gutted to see him go. Not because it's the wrong decision, just really liked him. You'd do well to find a player who has made such a big impact for us in relatively so few appearances (39 games over 2 seasons). If only he was 5 years younger.
Definitely the right call though, probably one of...
Out of interest Oxford fans, what's the story behind your one player who doesn't have the sponsor's logo on his top? One of the centre backs I think it was. I guess it has something to do with the sponsor being a brand of alcohol?
The FA released money spent on agent fees for the season today (or more accurately, from Feb 1st 2018 until January 31st 2019):
1, Sunderland, £2,873,033;
2, Barnsley, £428,580;
3, Charlton Athletic, £205,095;
4, Portsmouth, £183,790;
5, Fleetwood Town, £183,356;
6, Peterborough United...
The Shinnie/Stacey combo down the right side of the diamond is such a perfect match. Shinnie finds his runs to the byline with ridiculous frequency.
Our first goal on Saturday, all I could think at the time was "I've seen that one before." Hope someone cleverer than me puts together a video...
Jack Stacey :bow:
Remarkable stuff really, statistically head and shoulders the best u25 attacking full back in the entire football league. He's almost literally off the scale compared to everyone else.
Collins' goal ratio is a bit warped by the fact that he didn't score at all for his first 9 games at the start of the season while he (and us as a team) adjusted to the step up. Since then his goals to games ratio is phenomenal (20 in 29 games).
I think the coin throwing might have pre-dated him but he scored the decisive offside goal against us in the play off final that led to Jason Walker-gate.
That second half was as one-sided as I can recall seeing since we dicked Yeovil for 8 last year. Honestly the same scoreline wouldn't have been an unfair reflection of the game. Hylton, Lee, Cornick, Berry all missed glorious chances for more goals, and too many half chances to count.
Jack...
