Saville having a medical at Boro. Conflicting reports about whether Leonard will sign — one journo intimating that it’s a done deal, while Alan Nixon reckons we think Sheff Utd have him overvalued and we will now move onto a Prem loan target (thought to be Leicester’s Andy King).
I remember, but I also remember him fizzling our after a shit-hot ten or so games and eventually losing his starting position in that side. An apparently lovely lad but exceptionally fragile confidence. IF he can past his self-doubt he could still go on to good things.
You know what I mean. Four mil on one player is significantly more than you were able to spend last season, whatever the reason. I think Leonard has been left by the wayside for a number of reasons, but you would think that a club of less than plentiful resources would hang on to and try to make...
He suits a certain style. I don’t think he’d be anywhere nearly as effective in a side who needed him to sit in the midfield and control the tempo. He’s a perfect fit for a direct, pressing side, though — most of his goals have come from late surging runs into the box. That’s probably why Pulis...
They seem to be splashing the cash now, so don’t need him. Leonard would be a good signing for us. He’ll be under less pressure for his place and I think the crowd would take him.
Short term thinking, probably. Saville is a dynamic player who can score goals. Woods is a superior talent but someone you should build a team around and that takes time.
Plus, Saville had a year longer on his contract than Woods (I think?).
He joined as a 22-year-old and made 36 starts for you over three seasons. If you want to ignore the fact that he has clearly made strides in his development playing consistently in a team that actually wanted him, that’s your prerogative, but it doesn’t have much basis in reality.
Reliable forum ITK reckons it’s £7m rising to £9m in clauses. Also says we’re negotiating with Sheffield United for Ryan Leonard, who we’ve been after for a couple of years but hasn’t hit it off at the Blades. Josh Morris also been mentioned, though I’m lukewarm about his ability to come in and...
Saville has only just turned 25 and scored ten goals from central midfield in a team that nearly made then play-offs last season. Of course the fee is mad in any normal world, but it is correct value for him in this market I think.
Anyway, I do wonder how much we’ll be left with after Wolves...
I was skeptical, but then I read the speech:
"A BDC could develop new technology for online decision making and audience-led commissioning of programmes and even a public social media platform with real privacy and public control over the data that is making Facebook and others so rich," he...
That was as poor as I’ve seen us since we were promoted — ie. as poor as we’ve been in the 2nd half of all of our games so far, but spread out over 70 mins this time (better last 20 but too late by then). Fair play to Wednesday, they looked short of confidence but dug in and held out for the...
Tom Bradshaw set to sign on loan until Jan, then £1m permanent deal. Would, unbelievably, be our most expensive ever signing, beating a thirty year record of £800k.
We could do with four points from this and Rotherham, as we have to play Swansea and Leeds in the next few weeks. We have a poor record at Hillsborough, though, and despite deserving our points total so far we’ve not looked at all convincing after half time in any of the matches we’ve played.
