Just had an email from the club saying several fans who went to Bristol have come down with the Covid! As if it's not bad enough losing on penalties you have to catch the bloody plague as well. I blame all those unwashed Northerners who invaded the pitch at the end ;)
He's a cracking player and yes I'd say he's good enough for League 1. Started off as a box to box midfielder and gradually moved forward to become first a number 10 and then last season regularly played up front. Just behind the front man is his best position though.
Has a tendency to try too...
When we've played big sides U-23's in pre-season it's with an eye to taking one or two of them on loan. The big club get to test their kids against a decent standard of adult players and we get one of the kids for the following season. Always interesting to try to guess which of them will turn...
Yeah I'd agree with that last bit, wastes too much energy running down blind alleys so is always shattered for the last 20 minutes. Good player given the time to get his head up but once teams learn to get in his face he's much less effective.
Wynter, Moxey, Wright and Hall all confirmed as signing new deals (apparently done before the play-off semi-final).
Koszela, Slough and Andrews also agreed terms but not actually put pen to paper.
It's was rumoured at our end a few days ago that you were after both Cameron and Whitfield. Both decent players but certainly not irreplaceable as evidenced by the fact that we finished second with both of them injured for most of the second half of the season.
The first player in living memory we actually paid a fee for last summer from Brizzle City. One of only two players still under contract at Plainmoor so I'd hope we would demand a decent chunk of money for him. Seems settled down here though, he's signed for us four times (3 different loan...
He was always likely to leave but a little surprising he hasn't held out for a league 2 club . I know he wanted to move back up north though so maybe that limited his options.
Cracking player though, took last seaon to adjust to this level but for me he would have been our player of the year...
Rumours at our end that we're after Sam Ashford from Crawley and Josh Rees from the Shots.
Don't know anything about Asford but think he was on loan at Woking last season?
Rees was a decent player when we had him on loan 5 years ago and I seem to remember positive posts on here from the Shots...
Shouldn't think he'll be the last. Whitfield and Cameron will both be looking to move up to the EFL.
These players have been released today:
Billy Waters
Josh Umerah
JJ Evans
Owen Price
Liam Davis
Andrew Nelson
Matt Buse
Gary Warren
Evans and Price were first year pros who never made an...
He's not. One of the nicest guys you're ever likely to meet, hugely popular with the other players. Think he was just over hyped on Sunday after the goal and got a bit carried away.
He's a typical larger than life Brazilian and we'll be sorry to see him go but he's been inconsistent here, maybe...
