Hoddle made two first team appearances towards the end of last season and Monk thinks highly of him. Monk certainly believes in youth more than Bonner ever did but with the signings of Gary Gardner and Korey Smith in the middle of the park I suspect Hoddle may head out on a league two loan.

We’ve signed Korey Smith from Derby. 20+ starts for them last season and good experience with him alongside Gary Gardner. I’m really liking our business so far this summer.

Gary Gardner confirmed on a 2 year deal. Monk worked with Gardner at Birmingham and at 32 he should still do very well in this league.

Looks to be a top signing if his personal problems are behind him. Great pedigree with lots of ability, let’s hope Monk can unlock it.
