Usually one club who comes on the rails and surprises a lot of people- may well be CUFC this season. Keep the run going for another 6-7 games and you'll be in the mix for play-offs or, assuming some hit a blip, maybe autos.
You have some good strong players- loan players are always a risk (like us- we have lost 4 players in 2 weeks this transfer window) and both of us may need to strengthen our core team first and foremost (if we go up) before we rely on loan players.
I say it regularly on here- most clubs in EFL...
Grimsby are in a doldrums spell too (I don't think they've scored in the last 5 games)- funny game though. I would still take it as an away win for this weekend.
But I don't think it is the Notts head of police football- across the country, potentially high risk games often kick off earlier- Notts police don't make it up just for Mansfield Town- the concept is pretty much endemic for a number of fixtures each season.
I agree- has always been a decent rapport between Pies and Imps fans. As a club, I can't believe where they are right now- I know no club is "too big" to be relegated from this league however would never have bet County would be there.
Hopefully a big crowd and great atmosphere at the game
For any fans of either club who went- it wasn't the easiest journey down there or back home if you went the "quickest" route A46/M69/M6/M42/M5- more roadworks than you could shake a stick at, accidents and snow. Both ways!!
Thumbs up to anyone making Tuesday night trips like those
Really great turnout- I know on this forum a few bemoaned "Doncaster...again!" but it is 4th round and a great opportunity to progress further.
Will be a great atmosphere
I am not sure your source regarding "not allowed" to keep away fans back for 10 minutes is not slightly misplaced. The joint Safety Advisory Group (SAG) your club will have agreed guidance on minimising disruption and risk to public safety. The police have considerable powers to prevent public...
Yep- FA are really funny about dangerous play red cards (no matter what the actual event was) and, unless it is absolute cast iron- ie video evidence shows the player dived or there was no contact, then running at pace and taking a player out, even if you get the ball first, will be seen as...
IF we go up this season, next year will indeed need some consolidation of the squad- Akinde is only 29 but the rest are the wrong side of 30.
We have a very strong nucleus of young players (Anderson, Andrade, Pett, Bolger, Toffolo) and the next team will be built around them.
We may get one...
Parallels are relative but there
Both managers had track records of managing football teams and creating strong positivity
Both managers have had jobs outside of football and understand the real world
Both managers have a very proactive and clear understanding of community engagement
Both...
Jolley has real potential at Grimsby- it took him a while to get to grips with EFL, the club politics and how to win (IMHO) but if he keeps finding players like Ohman then he will be building a good team. Ohman looks (already) destined to become a quality town player.
For Town (again IMO)...
I never thought I'd see the day County brought less than 1,000 to SB but that happened this season.
Football is a funny old game and most of us have seen the good, the bad and the ugly- some of us have had more good than bad or ugly but for Imps it is much more of the bad and ugly than good...
