I know, but we definitely did still talk to him. And Marquis. I think we've so far also been "linked" with just about every other striker out there too, which is probably just agent talk. Our budget is allegedly going to be top six so do have some cash to spend on the forwards we need even...
We were in for Oliver, but were never going to give him 3 years at his age. Strongly circulating rumours, which may of course be wishful thinking, that we're getting Pigott back from Ipswich probably on loan. We have precisely no established strikers right now but I think a lot of our business...
We aren't going to have much pace at the back but him in a back line with Alex Pearce gives us the experience that we lacked last year which killed us. Exactly what we needed to rebuild and give the talented kids a platform to perform on without having to carry the whole side.
Why didn't Cosgrove work out? He smashed up defences in Scotland at a similar standard to League One. I remember Scunny fans laughing when we signed Lyle Taylor and Cambridge fans having nothing good to say about Joe Pigott so not going to judge Cosgrave by one failed loan.
Started well but gone off the boil in the last few weeks and not creating the chances we did, while remaining extremely vulnerable in defence. You'll score at least one, no question. It's whether we can rediscover our creativity at the other end. Youngest side in all the divisions so lots of...
I wouldn't be so sure about Plymouth not having a shot at promotion via the playoffs. Winning ugly away from home after being under the cosh is an ability that can take you far. Our kids didn't have enough experience to unlock them after being wasteful early on against the best defence I've seen...
Great entertainment. But we made 7 changes too, including a novelty circus act in goal, and our average age was under 22. I saw some comments on Pompey forums about it being your B Team v a strong team from us, which is actually true but not in the way intended. One of the reasons we've started...
Yes, I heard that too. Seemed odd to do that but not actually block off the end of your stand next to our East Stand which is where the flashpoint is. We seem to have a sizeable group that have season tickets in that part of the East Stand precisely because of the opportunity to goad away fans...
Sorry for the late reply on this. Tooting Broadway is about a 20 minute walk but the better option for away fans is to get the tube to Vauxhall then train one stop to Earlsfield, which is a five minute shorter walk and takes you past the designated away pubs - The Earlsfield and The Halfway House.
We don't use Ticketmaster though - it's an outfit called SecuTix. The problem seems to be our debenture tickets, where you pay a fee for 10 years for a specific guaranteed seat if you choose to take it up for each game. Looks like the system can't cope with those seats not being used, so they...
International callups put the game in doubt. As it happens we had only two rather than the possible three so it's on. That said, our new ticketing system is an absolute shambles and heads (or rather one particular head) should roll for it. Bolton and Gillingham games were both announced as...
Player of the year 19/20 and certainly decent for this level. I think you've done well there because he left us thinking he'd get a Championship gig or be snapped up by a "bigger" team than us, but has been brought down to earth a bit and signed for you rather than be left on the shelf. No...
Another decent result for us. We made 8 changes from Saturday and Charlton made 7 so not exactly a full-strength test but think this showed we have more strength in depth than last year.
That'll do. Far too early to make any really meaningful observations but signs are that we're capable of carrying on how we finished last season though Donny had pretty much a new team out and even allowing for unfamiliarity, man for man they don't look anything like the same quality they've had...
Playoff form for us over the last quarter of last season so expect us to be a bit better than where we're being put unless Robinson as manager turns out to be a one season wonder, which I don't think he will. Big if is whether we can replace Pigott's goals.
it depends which version you've signed. He was superb for us in his first loan spell and a big reason we stayed up that year. Delighted when we got him back again after he'd been at Pompey but he was very poor, didn't deserve a place in a struggling team and ended up on the bench.
