With a dozen defenders and a striker that Barrow fans described as unable to finish his dinner signed, I guess we're aiming to 0-0 our way to scrape survival on 46 points.
Seems a good signing based on how Tranmere fans used to talk about him. Probably means Campbell wants to continue with 5 at the back with wing backs, and that Fitz (who Sol hasn't got on with) may well be on his way out too sadly.
I'd say Evans is a bigger loss than Wilson for us, mostly due to his versatility being so useful when we (should/)can only afford a small squad. Better RB/RW option than MWH and better CDM than most of who we put there last year. Bit injury prone however.
Think we're just planning on playing 6 defenders with one designated as rush goalie; probably rotate it round but Welch-Hayes would be my choice considering his handling in the area last season.
Our summer last year was pretty terrible, but our owner and supreme leader has clearly decicded to one-up himself with this year's antics. It's amazing how he's managed to unravel everything positive about our promotion so quickly.
It's shocking! How can they possibly think that's an ok way to go about things. Also, these players were not getting paid while they were still at the club anyway!
I would've liked to have kept Lloyd but Campbell didnt rate him. Askey clearly does as he was inportant in our promotion season and he wanted him at Shrewsbury in L1. Think he likes having someone in midfield/out wide who wins headers from long balls, when only playing 1 up top.
Main issue is...
Quite. We signed 10 players in January with the majoiry of them not being good enough (or actually being inelligible) to play, and thus not actualling playing more than a few minutes, if at all.
This is also entirely reminiscent of the Steve King "era".
Good luck to both teams; youve both had excellent seasons regardless of what happens today. I'd like Tranmere to do it as they're a well run, big club and all the people involved with the club I've met in person have been very friendly and helpful during my visits (my one attempt to get to...
