As mentioned, we'll nowhere near have a top budget in this league. Probably at least a dozen if not more bigger. The 3 relegated sides are likely to have significantly bigger. But we certainly won't be pitching ourselves at 20th place. As we've shown already with the signing of Gabriel...
I agree but we survived our 1st season back in league 1 last time with a really shit squad. We just got worse in the 2nd season. This squad is better than both. What any of us 7 or 8 'smaller ' teams need to do is to get results from those around us...and I feel Moore is equipped for that...
I'm hoping we don't finish that low! We're better prepared this time, with a better squad and Moore should be able to attract some half decent signings. I'd hope for about 14th.
Yeah. Crewe got a bit giddy at one point but their squad depth was awful, as soon as they got a couple of injuries they dropped off massively. They start relying on kids as back up and it just doesn't work in that league.
On our podcast the other day, we had two journalists...one is a respected local paper writer Mike Bagguley and BBC Radio Stoke Vale reporter Phil Bowers. They've both had it from separate sources that we were 5th highest in terms of budget but I'm not sure whether that includes some of the...
It'll definitely be interesting. I guess our signings will tell us our ambitions for the season.
I just feel that to be in the top 5 or 6 in league 1, you've got to throw some serious wedge at it or be very lucky in the loan market(Orient) or happen upon a player who has the season of their...
I think it's luck of the draw as to whether they get recalled. Orient have been fortunate but if they're good players that make a difference, they're likely to be recalled in January.
Realistically, there's about 8-10 clubs who will feel they can get promoted. Unless Carol seriously splurges the wedge, we'll be among the rest in the race to 12th place. Before seeing any signings, I'd take 14th right now. Orient are the benchmark for us...consolidate and then try and push...
I think you'll be easily top 3. Home Park is a really horrible journey for most clubs, you'll still have a Championship squad and your budget will easily be top 3. Plymouth should be our blueprint of how to grow their fan base season on season, have a good set of fans and although you've taken a...
It's close to a place called Earlsfield, which is decent and 10 minutes from Waterloo. Tooting is also pretty good for a pre match beer. The ground itself is quite good for a new build but it could do with slightly larger stands on all sides. Wimbledon get pretty decent crowds and with success...
We were actually playing a game to go top in October and were midtable at Christmas. Yes, the rest of our squad wasn't the best but my point remains that you don't want to rely on loan players as the 1st name on the teamsheet. If they're good, they'll get recalled in January. If we'd have...
I'd be very wary of using the loan market too much. It basically relegated us as we relied on the brilliance of 2 loan players in Ollie Arblaster and Alfie Devine...they got recalled and we went to shit. Same happened to Walsall in the past 2 seasons.
I've liked what we've done this...
I'd agree. If Chesterfield turn this around then they love passing it around which will be good on a big pitch. Wimbledon's pitch is tight and they keep it tight at the back and play percentage stuff...hence their good home record.
He was always quite good but seems to have been around forever. Remains to be seen whether playing in what you would imagine is a pretty poor Danish league has set him back a little. Good experience at 31 though and decent pedigree.
We've had probably 8 to 10 wrong game defining decisions against us in this last season. Probably about 3 the other way. So God help us if the refs are worse. The level of shithousery is horrendous in league 2, so we're used to that.
I think the aim has to be consolidation next season. We weren't prepared at all last time we got promoted....didn't have enough league 1 standard players and came back down.
We have a better base this time but we need some serious improvements on our defence. From being probably in the top 3...
This site let itself down by being poorly maintained. Allowed it to crash a number of times or be hacked. Everyone had enough, particularly in league 2 and moved to the other site. It's far better.
I can't speak for others but we haven't been particularly that good this season. A handful of games where we were quite good but not many opposition will identify us as the best team they played, if any. I'm also unsure how Donny were champions as they didn't look great whenever I saw them...
