Not surprised but a bit relieved.:) A lot of Villa fans don't rate Baker and didn't he gift Wolves an equaliser a couple of days ago? I hope we sign someone less injury-prone and more robust for the slog which is the Championship,
Shackell still lives in Alderley Edge (Cheshire). Anyone...
Burnley FAIL to land Nathan Baker in a £2 million deal as the defender opts for a new FOUR-YEAR deal with Villa.
Talk of a possible loan deal but I'd prefer someone else in a permanent signing.
Interesting to see 3 out of 4 Bristol City fans banking on 3 points against Burnley - mind you they were in League One when the Clarets were powering to promotion 2 years ago, so probably don't realise how much stronger we are than the last time they were in the championship.
For a start, Lee...
Burnley are NOT exactly known for paying high wages (14th highest in 2013/14) so if Preston cannot compete with the Clarets on wages then there cannpt be many championship clubs they can compete against. My advice to Preston, get promoted to the Premier League or find a very rich owner.
Neither of you mention the Villareal shot which hit the post and bounced to safety when they were leading 1-0.......two down with 20-odd minutes to go would have left an uphill struggle.:conf:
Barring any late hitch, Burnley will sign Villa central defender Nathan Baker for £2 million. Also signed teenage AFC Wimbledon striker Daniel Aygei after a successful trial.
Freedman sacked at end of September.....Sean Dyche gets Forest promoted via the play-offs after they beat Derby 1-0 in the Wembley final.:2thumb:
Dyche destined for Forest job later this season or in 2016/17. Get money on it.
Forest 10 years of domination over Leicester and Derbuy.
Nixon says in The Sun that Villa "are ready" to sell central defender Nathan Baker for £2 million to Burnley who are still hoping to tie up a deal for Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury - £3 million bid rejected last time.
Burnley also hoping to sign strikers Chris Long from Everton (permanent or...
Chesterfield 3 Burnley 2.................Burnley were two up after 20 minutes but outplayed after that.
Jutkiewicz is our only fit striker at the moment so Dyche could not play his usual 4-4-2.
Burnley turned down £2.75 million for Shackell last week, according to the Lancs Evening Telegraph, so it looks as though Derby must have increased their offer since the weekend. Three bids rejected since the original bid of £2 million last month).
£3 million is a good deal for Burnley...
I wouldn't despair too much if I was a Bristol City fan.
When Cotterill was manager at Burnley, he started the 2004/5 season with a wafer-thin squad - not enough for the official team photo.
I went to a friendly against Everton in late July 2004, and lining up for Burnley were John McGreal...
Happiest: Getting promoted to the Premier League in 2009 and 2014 (equal first)
Saddest: Getting relegated from Premier League in2010 and 2015 (equal first)
Angriest: Giving manager's job to Brian Laws in January 2010 (stomach churning).
Burnley used ALL their squad except for Heaton and Shackell (both minor injuries) and Michael Keane (extra holiday). Marney, Barnes and Long are long-term cruciate injury absentees.
