When we were down there, we clinged on to the fact Donny were down there for ages and then surged up the leagues.
If you disregarded the SHEDLOADS of dosh thrown at it, it seem like a dream open to anyone. Sigh.
It's still better than the Conference.
Can you not just win a few and relegate Blackpool instead? I hate Fergie Jr as much as the next person, but don't really mind Doncaster Rovers much (the place, well...).
Cheers.
This cracks me up. There seems to be a widely held misconception that Chelsea were nothing before the man of many oblasts came rocking on up. The 7 consecutive top six finishes previously (and my word there were some players in those sides!) seem to have been conveniently wiped from memory.
I still think they'll do it. As good a story as West Ham doing it would be, I just don't think they'll do enough. Not sure I fancy Manchester United enough for it either, so City to just stumble over.
The cynic in me says that it makes no difference at all. What are a handful of supporters in the face of the billions of pounds at the top?
Essentially every time something like that comes up, every post-national tournament inquest, every time the gap gets bigger between the haves and have...
On the contrary, our progress in the competition to the final (and semis the year after) was one of the few bright spots during the 5 years before we got raped and relegated to non-league.
Admittedly, it's not a competition I care greatly about but it gave us a chance to play at the Millenium...
It's hard to be happy Yeovil are safe when York are still in such a perilous position.
Top bombing today lads, and sorry Dezza, I'll wait until things go wrong to really lay into you :)
I think one of the things with this debate is that to the neutral, it's almost a footnote that Villa won the Champion's League (sic/w/e) as Forest winning it twice is the bizarre memorable one and LIverpool obviously cleared up (before getting everyone banned for making a mess) in that era.
Or...
King Consort dear boy...
Actually, that means darling Lizzie married to El Hadj Diouf...not saying I wouldn't want to see it, but it's not exactly on the coupon!
Of course Liverpool are a big club. What a chuffing stupid question.
There can be more than one big club, and Liverpool are not the biggest, nor the smallest of the big clubs.
Debate done.
